excellent musical. with one of the best plots. Tyeve. a poor jewish dairy farmer lives firmly to his jewish traditions. he has five daughters and he and his wife were married by a matcmaker. this takes place during the takeover revolution of where he lived. his first oldest daughters all want to marry the men they fell in love with. he has a hard time dealing with wanting to stay true to his traditions and his daughters happiness. great songs, actors everything. one of the better musicals that made it from stage to movies successfully.

I just recently saw the movie of Fiddler on the Roof and I just fell in love. I always sort of knew the story, but never sat down and watched the entire film. Talk about classic - watching a movie from the 70s in 2008, and still being captivated by it - certainly says a lot about the story and the portrayal of it. I am a sucker for musicasl, so maybe someone who wasn't so into the singing and dancing wouldn't love it as much, but really the storyline and how they weaved in the song and dance was magical.
