I recall the tons of hype (and a few actual warnings) prior to and during the run of this film - to be followed by copious revolving head and spewing pea soup jokes to the point that this reference eventually became part of the culture. Regardless of The Exorcist’s fame and/or infamy - I easily see it for the unique and landmark horror film that it was. Its rather unique depiction of the occult and its huge box office success immediately and predictably spawned dozens of creepy little demon offspring. As far as The Exorcist went - I could have done with a bit more back story and explanation and a little less growling and flailing about. Still, pretty edge of the seat, scary stuff - not to mention it really made you think twice about goofing around with a Ouija board...eeek!

Yet Linda Blair was such a hottie back then...

Three hours of watching an innocent young girl getting tortured is groovy?
