Whitman is one of those soft-spoken Nelson-Rockefeller-style Republican social moderates whose voices were squashed under this administration. GOP moderates were the bread and butter of domestic policy under the Nixon and Ford administrations, and they find themselves out of place in the current state of the party, since even John McCain has no use for them. Given that she was obviously not wanted, Whitman's protest against the administration strikes me as a little soft. We barely heard a peep out of her until she came out with her book, It's My Party, Too. Instead of Taking Back the Republican Party, the subtitle should have been, And I'll Cry If I Want To. Waah waah.
