may 12th 1970 at wrigley field hit his 500th homerun. he was one of the best in baseball and it was a joy to see him play.

Ernie's prime was really from around the middle of the Eisenhower to the beginning of the Kennedy administrations, he was kind of winding it down around the time groovy came into common usage.
