The Triple Crown appears so attainable with so many great horses winning the Kentucky Derby and The Preakness lately. However, Belmont's distance is just too much for most of them to handle. Big Brown appeared to be a high quality horse, but he was not invincible. He didn't appear to give his best effort at Belmont, and the much hyped event turned into a disappointment again.

You could see this coming.  Having been a racing fan for many many years, I started to read the code in Big Brown's connections comments about his hoof damage.  That, some iffy works and a rail position start did not bode well for his chances. 

I laid off the race, and was glad I did.

Very sad, it was just not to be for Big Brown. A great horse who had the potential to be a Triple Crown winner but Big Brown had a bad day at the worst time in his career.
