Cheers was a great show. I think it had run it's course, and it ended before it started going downhill. So I'm not really upset that it was canceled, but I am somewhat upset that Nick-at-Nite stopped showing the reruns. Reruns of Cheers makes for great late night TV.  I can't really claim to be devastated that it was canceled because I was too young to fully enjoy it in it's original run. I watched it, but I didn't fully realize how great it was until I started watching the reruns when I was in college.
