have a problem with the concept that everyone should be treated with courtesy no matter how they behave. There is way too high a sense of entitlement in our society, and way too little acceptance of personal responsibility for our own behaviour.

It's possible, sure. . .but this is phrased as if everyone gets some kind of free pass.  If you act like dirt you should be treated as such. 

When a person treats another human being like dirt, guess what? It always has a way of coming back and biting you in the rear!
