Issues of media partisanship or fair treatment aside, its a little surprising that this was a hard question to field at all.

Its just proof the media wants to elect Obama. They will always throw Obama "softball" questions, and will always give McCain a hard time. Why wouldn't they ask Obama something like that when he was in Europe? The media is in love with Barry Obama, and will do what ever it take to elect him. He can do no wrong. It's sickening.

It was sad . . . and funny. What was Obama's response to the same question? Oh, nobody asked it? Maybe it was just a gotcha question, Obama won't have to worry about fielding any of those this year.

The closest thing to a true awkward moment for McCain, but it happened over a year ago, so it's not going to matter now. Actually, McCain hasn't made any gaffes, but his bigger problem is that he hasn't said anything remotely interesting. For the record, here are his responses to the question and variations on it:
Take 1: "Ahhh. I think I support the president's policy."
Take 2: "You've stumped me."
Take 3: "I'm not informed enough on it. Let me find out. You know, I'm sure I've taken a position on it on the past. I have to find out what my position was."
Take 4: (Twelve-second pause) "Get me [Sen. Tom Coburn’s] thing, ask [senior adviser John Weaver] to get me Coburn's paper that he just gave me in the last couple of days. I’ve never gotten into these issues before."
That's just sad.
