McCain sings, "Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran". Obama sings "Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Pakistan". I don't really say this in jest. Our political leaders sit there and debate who we should attack next like it was nothing. Granted, Obama never put his desire to stage cross border raids to Pakistan into song, but the idea is the same nevertheless.Step back and really look at the political picture. The major politicians debate differences in tactics as opposed to broader strategies in dealing with political problems internationally. There truly is no difference between either party and you're deluding yourself if you believe otherwise. Perhaps we're too cavalier in our decisions to go to war. Too many lives are at stake to dismiss bombing raids as "shock and awe", and civilian deaths as "collateral damage". Too many interests are at stake to plunge entire nations into war and civil disarray without considering the consequences, for both them and us.

I can take a joke, but that was just not funny.

It's really too bad that politics has become such a serious business and a sense of humour is seen as a liability. As we learned after he was run out of public life for being a bore, Bob Dole may be the funniest man in America, and not unintentionally so. But sadly politics has become completely dour and unfunny and the path we are heading down will result in one of the saddest days in the history of democracy - Carson Daly as President of the United States of America.

An example of a candidate trying to make an off the cuff joke (seemingly to distance himself from the position) that not only fell flat but caused him problems. As an ex-aide to politicians I can only imagine the kind of cringing his staff was doing. Still and all, not a big deal, except by people who want it to be.

A psychologically interesting moment in which McCain repeated his listener's position, but as a joke. The joke was intended to distance him from the position, but it unintentionally brought out the truth of what he is actually thinking. I actually appreciated McCain's honesty in telling us exactly what he really intends to do to Iran.

I didn't see this as very awkward, but heavy on pandering.

I was embarrassed for him.

That's pretty awkward, yeah...If Cheney ever sings that hideous "Kokomo" trash I am moving to Middle Earth- I hear gas ain't something to worry about in The Shire- or The Planet of the Friggin' Apes.
