Watching it, I think he handled himself with uncharacteristic aplomb. I can't believe his staff would send him out there into the breach before the Senator showed up. I suspect that is a big part of Bush's image woes, inept handlers. Was McCain wondering around in the garden lost?

Bush was doing the dance for once, because McCain has been dancing all year, trying to use Bush to his advantage while also keeping him at arm's length. McCain was smart to keep Bush waiting, but if he were really smart, he would just punch him in the face. That would help McCain's chances in November.
