Chris Washburn is a textbook example of everything wrong with college basketball today. A talented player in high school, there wre those felt that he should not have even given a high school degree but his high school still gave him one. At NC State he was by all acccounts a horrible student who rarely went to class and one NC State official has admitted Washburn's grades were altered to keep him eligible. Washburn also caused problems such as by stealing a stereo and developing a drug problem. This was further documented in Peter Golenbock's book "Personal Fouls", which was an expose on Jim Valvano's basketball program at NC State. It should also be pointed out that he was hardly the only at NC State as their were other players who caused their share of headaches as well.
