Has barely been a senator, and is now running for prez. Will not let you question ANYTHING about him or its considered an attack. He is the puppet for the Democratic Party, and has changed his views SO MANY times, I never know where he stands. For the surge/against the surge, Meet with Iran/Will not meet with Iran, Iran is a threat/Iran is not a threat...... and so on.

Worse then Kerry. At least Kerry had a more extensive resume and experience. Who is this guy thats such a good speaker?

Yes, there certainly is plenty of information out there about him. A quick Google search will reveal his position on most issues. The question is not about what he believes in; rather it is about how he will act once he's in the White House. What is his agenda, his broader world view that will inform the decisions he will make. Its one thing to campaign for office, but governing is something completely different. Rhetoric and symbolic action will only get you so far. One must have some experience, along with a decent amount of common sense to do the job. Does Obama "have it"? I'm not too sure, and given some of his statements, especially on foreign policy, I have no doubt that he will make some mistakes once in office. His economic policy is somewhat undefined, indeed, he hasn't been all that clear on his tax policy--namely what will he do about the AMT and capital gains taxes. Given his statements, I suspect he will likely enact across the board tax increases, although saying that is politically difficult, so he avoids the subject. He hasn't articulated any views on his views on monetary policy, which is very important, especially given that many of our economic problems today can be traced back to the weak dollar. His energy policy is far reaching, although lacking in short term solutions, thus making it politically unrealistic. On trade policy, one day he's for free trade, the next day, he believes that we should re-examine all of our trade pacts.

So, knowing what the candidate will do once in office based on his stated positions during a campaign is very difficult to determine. The decision to choose a candidate then must come down to the "softer" factors, like leadership potential, honesty, personality, temperament --the things that you can't quantitatively measure per se.

I suspect that Obama, should he become President, will make a promising start. He will give good speeches that will be well received by the public. He's going to go for an approach that will bring in his political opponents, both within the Democratic and Republican parties, "into the tent", so to say. Like many of his speeches, it all sounds great, getting away from the confrontational, gladiatorial politics of the past few years. But in reality, Obama's approach is a very subversive way of undercutting the opposition so the electorate eventually doesn't know which party to vote for. Tony Blair did it in Britain during the late '90's and the early part of this decade with success, and it seems like Obama is copying that strategy. That is what Obama really means when he says that he wants to get rid of the division between "red" and "blue" America. Instead of "divide and conquer", it is "conquer then incorporate". Nothing new under the sun really.

I know enough about him to know there's not a chance in hell I'd vote for him.

There's all this talk about McCain and Bush being the same. Interesting since some of the same people have been saying he was so much different than Bush for the better part of the last seven years. As time goes by and I learn more about Obama, I notice more and more that he is essentially Jimmy Carter in another skin, advocating a lot of the same things that Carter did back in the late 70s. It won't work now and it seems to me it should be enough that it didn't work then. I lived through the Carter administration once, I don't care to have a second dose almost 30 years later.

We know enough about him. I know enough about his opponent to know I would never vote for him.

We know he's not one of us and he's probaly a secret Muslim Communist whose gonna surrender America to Al Kieda after he orders all white people into slavery, forces Christians to marry someone of the same sex, confiscates our guns and Bibles, raises taxes on calkasians and give away everything to minorties!!!!!!.

UPDATE:

He's the anti-Christ too!

UPDATE AGAIN:

My point is he's one of THEM and can't be trusted.

SERIOUSLY:

The man has many typical flaws common to most American politicians, but Obama's negatives are nothing compared to those of McBush. http://tinyurl.com/2nwlpv

I did some looking around. Voting record, associates, his website, and various other BS. As a result I'm certain that I won't vote for him, but at least I looked.

UPDATE: Lest it look like I'm part of the dogpile, I'll offer up this gem from my conversations with louie on Obama...

He absolutely needs to answer questions and quit being such a thin skinned bitch about things, for sure. Still, we can learn more about by looking at what he does instead of obsessing on what he says. Strangely, his lack of consistancy between those two areas says quite a bit about him and is a main factor in my position that voting for him is a bad move.

*Update*

If everyone read the item they would see that it says We know too little about him, it does not say We know nothing about him! The point I was trying to make is that yes we know he is liberal, yes we know he believes the way Rev Wright does (even though he denies it), we already know he doesn't think we should drive SUV's, or be able to put our thermostats where we want or that we shouldn't be able to eat whatever or however much we want and that he is glad our gas prices are so high. I am saying what about his voting record or lack there of? What about his true religious beliefs? He goes to Rev Wright's church for 20 years and then claims to disagree on much of what Wright says? Obama is a freshman Senator, barely 3 years out of the Illinois legislature! He is the least tested and the least experienced and we deserve to know more.

(OM)He gets defensive when asked personal questions. What is he trying to hide? We know he is trying to hide some of his political beliefs by voting present 100+ times, but what about his personal life? There is more to him than meets the eye and I am not trying to say he is a deep person, I am saying there are hidden things. Time to be real and answer some of the tough questions Obama. You can kind of put 2 and 2 together by linking him to Rev. Wright, William Ayers, Farrakhan and other radicals.

He comes from a Muslim backround(very hateful religeon). He's a democrat(godless pricks) and he is inexperienced. He's not the guy any senseable human being would want as president. If I could do negative stars I would

There are a host of ways to find out about this or any other major politician, if you make the effort. The guy has been a leading item in the news for months, so this argument just doesn't wash.

If the concern is that "you don't know what he'd do as President," then the same holds true for McCain, as it did for Bush, as it did for Clinton, etc, etc, ad infinitum before their first terms.

"Ah dont no nuthin' 'bout dat man. He speeks wit beeg wurds ah kant undurstand." Dislike the man. Dislike his policies. Dislike his politics. Dislike his Dumbo Ears. But please- stop with the "we don't know anything about him" mantra that just makes the speaker look stupid. He's beaten the Hillanator thus he's been on the media constantly. He's written two (that's one plus one) books that have been bestsellers if you're interested. And if you're here I'm sure you're aware of this invention called the 'internets' that allows you to access his webpage if you still have questions. You have every right to hate his guts- you have no right to actually claim that you don't 'know' what he believes if you haven't invested the time, energy, or calories to actually learn something.
