Similar. Go Celtics. I thought are they just toying with them? Is that it? Could that be it please. Yes. Maybe they weren't really toying with them. But that is what I was hoping for that they won.

ANYTIME THAT LAKER SCUM LOSES IN THE PLAYOFFS I JUMP FOR JOY-people in Boston and San Antonio really hate the Lakers!

The Celtics' return to glory was a great story that was made even better when they faced off against their old rivals the Lakers. David Stern couldn't have written the script any better for the 2008 NBA playoffs. This was very entertaining and a great sports story.

It was nice and all, and as a native it seems weird that it's really been over 20 years since the last banner, but I didn't get too excited about it as basketball is a secondary sport for me behind baseball, and I'm hardly a huge Celtic fan. It wasn't even beating The Lakers, a team that historically deserves respect even though I can't stand seeing the C list Hollywood frauds on the TV. The nice thing is beating Bryant, like twansalem said. I have no interest in Bryant's alleged peccadilloes with obscure skanks. What I don't like about him is that the smug prick is an asshole to his teammates, scowling whenever someone ELSE misses a basket or something.

I enjoyed the series, and I thought there were some pretty compelling story lines. Watching KG break down after the Celts won it, and watching Pierce standing on a table at center court reveling in his fans was just awesome. These guys played very hard all year, and amazingly, it really was their defense that was the defense.

Game 4 might have been one of the best finals games in several years. Too bad I missed it because the local ABC station was too busy with nonstop flood coverage.
What an amazing one year turnaround. The Celtics went from one of the worst teams in the league to NBA champions in one year. Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen finally win rings, and Paul Pierce was rewarded for all the years playing on mediocre to just plain awful Celtics teams. Once again, as also seen with recent championships by the Spurs and Pistons, defense wins championships. It may not be pretty, but it's fundamentally sound.
While it was cool to see these guys all win their rings, even better was seeing Kobe not getting another. Nothing like seeing the Lakers getting completely destroyed in game 6.

This story will fade once NFL training camps begin. This story is tained by the still-in-the-room ref scandal. And you simply have to take stars off for a championship round with some (quite frankly) awful basketball. Occassional defense and the Lakers mailing it in during that last game does not go far in keeping the image of a tarnished league legitimate. Something's wrong with the NBA. . .

I'm not much of a basketball fan, but I was intrigued by the Celtics season, and their improvement from ugliness last year. I saw several, but not all of the final games, including that stunning comeback in LA, and found myself impressed more than I expected.
