06/23/2008 | Jim McKay was a great sportscaster, and unfortunately for me he did much of his work before my time. He was well known for covering the Olympics and horse racing, and was the broadcaster who covered the hostage situation at the 72 Olympics for 14 hours straight. He worked late into his career and I remember him during coverage of the Triple Crown and the Olympics. He graduated from the same high school as I, and is a local legend here in Maryland. He lived a full and eventful life, and will be missed by those who appreciated his work.
