The song by Jill Sobule with the same title was kind of appealing in a loopy way, but the 2008 version is a dopey and ham-handed attempt to shock. Lame, oh, so lame.

I heard this on the radio today, and was shocked when I saw that it was #1 on Billboard's Hot 100. When I think of "I Kissed a Girl" I think of a little known song from Jill Sobule back in 1995. That song was humorous and silly, while this effort from Katy Perry seems to be just about creating a buzz around her name. It seems like a smart producer or writer took the name from the previous song and put forth some crappy pop that they knew would get some airplay with the suggestive title and lyrics. Blah...not for me.
