Update: Augustin had a pretty good rookie season, scoring well with good shooting percentages. For that reason I'll upgrade the Bobcats draft a bit, but Ajinca did absolutely nothing like I thought would happen. 6/27/2008 - ** The Bobcats had three picks in the draft, and while one of them was in the top 10, I don't think they did well with their selections. DJ Augustin is a good choice at #9, but I don't think he fits the Bobcats needs. They already have a quality young point guard in Raymond Felton, so this wasn't a big need. Their 2nd 1st round pick was used on Alexis Ajinca, a 7-3 Center from France. Now 7-3 certainly sound intriguing, but the guy only averaged 5 points and 5 rebounds last year in the French league. I'm going to assume that this won't translate to well to the NBA. Maybe Augustin supplants Felton as the starter, but unless he does so, I don't think this was as good a draft as the Bobcats could have had.
