I think my home team did pretty well as far as their rookies go. OJ Mayo was a great scorer and a good complimen to Rudy Gay, but OJ still had some rookie left in him as he would have off stretches of the season. I think OJ will do better next year, and that should take a little pressure off of Rudy. Darrel Arthur started most of the season, but I feel that was only because we really have no one at PF. Arthur didn't do anything offensively, and he is more of a rebounder. Marc Gasol really came around the last half of the season and I look for him to get much better next year. He will be a solid starter for next season. Eventually, the Gasol rivalry might get more heated, and you can really see some action out of those two bigmen.

Update: OJ Mayo had a great year scoring, but I'm still waiting to see if will be more than just a great scorer on a bad team. Darrell Arthur started for most of the season, but only put up mediocre numbers. The jury is still out on him and this draft for the Grizzlies. 6/27/2008 - Memphis got OJ Mayo in a draft day trade with the T-Wolves. Mayo has had a ton of hype around him, and most analysts think he will be very ready to succeed in the NBA. A lot of this draft will rest on how successful Mayo is with Memphis. However, I don't think Memphis addressed their biggest need since Gasol was traded to the Lakers, which is at the 4 and 5 spots. They acquired Darrell Arthur from Kansas. While he is a solid player, I don't see him filling enough of a void down low for the Grizzlies to improve much next season. Memphis is stuck with Kwame Brown and Darko Milicic as their big guys. I see them needing to deal some more pieces to acquire a strong center or power forward if they are going to be competitive.
