The chance for a major hurricane hitting the US mainland remains the same every season.We could have one this year, or not for another 50 years.Make like a Boy Scout and BE PREPARED.

There have only been 4 that made landfall in the USA as category '5' storms; once every 39.5 years from 1851-2005 (Katrina) according to the National Weather Service. There will surely be another, but not for quite a while.

Hurricanes happen all the time. I would be surprised if there wasn't a massive hurricane this year.

We have the technology to "kill" hurricanes. But we don't have the political and economical will to do so. The aftermath of a hurricane is always good, from the economical point of view of a few powerful circles.
