This is an interesting and unsettling story that hasn't been getting as much media play as it probably should.

Eventually, genetic engineering will stop the disaster. Besides, other pollinating species will likely grow exponentially. Unless this is happening within a hidden agenda to hurt the country and the world. Then, it is another story.

To me, this is one of the underexposed stories of the year. Besides the agrigultural impact of a decimated honey bee population (bees are used to pollinate crops), you have to have to be a little worried for yourself when a whole species gets suddenly and inexplicably rocked by a virus. I read a lot of scifi, and most of the plagues in the books I read are forewarned by another species getting wiped out. Scary stuff.
