From the looks of what I see, there's more than a few people who could live for several months off their stored fat reserves.

A trip to Milwaukee or any strip mall in Indiana should dispel all fears of this...Or John Hagee's house : the slob's pantry is probably stocked with 345, 078 cans of Dinty Moore stew and 283, 019 boxes of Hostess Cupcakes.

We should expect a minor shortage in grain this year due to the massive flooding in the midwest, but there are grain reserves, so this should only result in an increase in food costs, not a major shortage.
What is more likely at some point down the road than a food shortage for the U.S., is a food shortage for the rest of the world as the U.S. stops exporting grain to the rest of the world to feed ourselves and to make more ethanol.

Very unlikely. Artificially created shortages with the purpose of rising prices and favor certain groups, perhaps.

We had better hope this does not happen. History has proven that food shortages can lead to revolution.
