Too much work. Herbs are easy and not labor-intensive. . .

I've grown pepper, watermelon, tomatoes, baby eggplant (which were some of the most delicious vegetables I've ever tasted), and onions.Overall I find homegrown vegetables to have a far more richer flavor. The problem with commercially grown vegetables is that many of the soils that they're grown on have been depleted of nutrients over time. Plus many farms spray their produce with chemicals and insecticides. Not very healthy at all. Growing your own vegetables at least allows you to bypass some of these contaminants.

We are starting to eat stuff from our garden every day. Yep, too early for the corn, but we've harvested potatoes (three kinds), peas, beans, onions and garlic. The tomatoes are a little behind schedule, as are the carrots, but the beets, broccoli, cauliflower, five types of lettuce and peppers are almost ready. Melons and gourds have a way to go. Have had a problem with earwigs, which ruin the corn, but have learned to fend them off with a garlic/water spray. Works great.

Yes, I have. As a matter of fact, I have a garden this year that I have been working on. I have already gotten carrots, leeks, and lettuce, and waiting for others. But I especially can't wait for my corn!

It was a lot easier when I was still in high school living with my parents, because we had an actual garden. I've since tried growing a few things in pots. The tomatoes didn't seem to work out, no matter how often I watered them, it seemed like they were always too dry, and only produced a few tomatoes. Bell peppers on the other hand, will flourish in pots.

Yeah, but the slugs and snails and assorted insects got to enjoy them more than me.
