I thought about it and joined. I thought it would be good and it showed all the benefits. It was a very bad idea and impossible to get out of, but I finally did get out of it.

Yes, I thought about it. I thought about it so much I did it.

Well no. I grew up in a military family we moved every 3 years.dad was always leaving for months at a time when we were in a new city. don't get me wrong, he retired at the age of 38 with full benefits. if you can make it it has so many benefits to it,but for me I don't think I would make agood fit in the military!

Both after high school and college I thought somewhat about joining the military. I looked at the academies a bit coming out of high school, but decided they were not for me. I did not end up ever making this decision, and am happy about where I am. However, I believe I would have liked the personal challenges that being in the military provides.

When I was pre-puberty I was sure I wanted to join. Post puberty I was busy getting in trouble, and then turned into an anti-military type for a few years. After that I developed other interests entirely.

Before the Boy Scouts: Yes.
After the Boy Scouts: No.

No. With all due respect to the young men and women who are serving and have served, it was never a profession or career that I ever considered for an instant. Having my head shaved, being yelled at and called "Worm" and "Creep" and "Slimebag" and whatever other juicy epithets they yell at you in Boot Camp while standing rigidly at attention and answering "Sir, Yes Sir!" or "Sir, No Sir!" like the bottom partner in a sadomasochistic gay relationship, or crawling through mud and maneuvering in the cold rain, or running 20 or so miles while singing, "I don't know but I've been told...Russian Communists ain't got no soul...", or eating K-rations while squatting down in a ditch or foxhole, or getting shot at or shooting at people I don't know and may not particularly have a grudge against, or...well, let's just say that the "Be All That You Can Be" TV-ads just never made much of a positive impression on this teenaged wastrel.

Yes, I registered and was classified as 1H (holding in case of war). I sought a different path in life but always regretted not serving my country in that way.
