Bledsoe was a great quarterback, and the best one New England ever had until Tom Brady came along. I don't think people respect how good Bledsoe was because of how he was replaced by Brady. However, Bledsoe is in the top ten in many passing categories and did get the Pats to a Super Bowl before losing to the Packers. Before he arrived the Pats had been an awful team for almost a decade. He didn't take them all the way to the promised land, but he provided some great moments for his team along the way, and helped the stage for the Pats current run through the AFC and the NFL.
