Perhaps the best example of an insider who secretly distrusted Bush even as he worked for him. Christopher Hitchens claims that Armitage was "an assiduous underminer of the president's war policy" -- while Hitchens means it as insult, it earns him at least a little credit with me. Not much, though, considering that his opposition, like his boss Powell's, seems to have had precious little impact.
