A tiresome, unfunny sitcom about a gaggle of unlikeable menopausal old biddies.  What a laugh riot.  Mainstream sh*t in its most unvarnished form.  Populated with a crew of talentless has-beens who were about as amusing as a fart in church on a hot Summer day.  And this actress was the most annoying and irritating of all the losers associated with that show.  Save your veneration for someone who truly deserves it.

To my mind, an inconsequential actress from an inconsequential sit-com.

I was sad to hear of her death,she added to the show the Golden Girls so much.

I never knew she was Jewish, but that fact should never be in the way of her success in show business. Been on the movies "Mannequin", "Tootsie", "Mask" "Stuart Little" and "STOP! or My Mom will Shoot". Also some shows like, "Copacabana" and a very short stint on "Empty Nest."  Of course, nobody will forget the fixture of her old woman humor on "The Golden Girls" and "The Golden Palace." Estelle Scher (her real last name) was the best actor for the seniors in Hollywood for 15 years to me. She will join her husband, but she would have been 86 if her dementia let her stay alive for three more days (born July 25, 1923). That would be agonizing to any relative or devoted fan, but she lived a sensational lifestyle after overcoming adversity. Kudos to her for her fine acting.

talented actress funny as Sophia Petrilla on Golden Girls.  she had severe dementia for years a awful way to end your years. RIP to a good actress.

She played Bea Arthur's mom inspite of being a year younger than her.  I'm not sure if that's flattering to an actress or not.  But I concurr with the assessment of her hilarious excellency.

The most beloved of The Golden Girls, she probably was the least know actress of the four but portrayed the show's best charecter with hilarious excellency. This show still remains popular, even younger women, for instance, love this show.

The characters on "The Golden Girls" were all so crazy and vibrant, but Estelle Getty stole the show.  R.I.P., Estelle.

RIP Estelle Getty.  She was my favorite Italian grandmother.

The Golden Girls were "golden" starting almost 23 years ago, so its about time one of them passed away. Does anybody else see a reunion special with the 3 remaining cast members? I see them holding each other and weeping through "Thank You for Being a Friend" as Sophia's (Estelle Getty) coffin is lowered into the ground.
