Cute movie, not groundbreaking but I enjoyed it. I'd have really given it a 3.5, but no option given.

I think that this movie was pretty good it wasn't the best it was just ok...it was funny but i didn't really catch my attention or anything. I mean a rat who can cook is like impossible and to me there is like no problem or solution or plot in this movie...

Funny in spots. . .cute story. . .probably an underrated part of the Pixar canon but still watchable. The short french chef was pretty funny looking. ..

One of the best animated films I have seen in recent years. Certainly warrants 5 big stars.

While it wasn't the most popular Pixar movie of all time, it ranks as one of my favorites! Maybe cause most of the characters are adults in this film. It was a very original and creative story.

'Ratatouille' had a very nice plot line. It's essentially about a rodent that can cook up a storm and bypass French health laws :)

This movie was probably the last Pixar movie I ever saw, and it was a good one.

I was just starting to think the Pixar movies were gettin boring (see Cars?) and the wow factor of the realistic animation was losing its impact when this one came out. It was a pretty good return to form. I started taking my kids to movies about the time that Toy Story came out and I figured that animation was in a golden age of revival. But the form fell into the same level of formula that most of Hollywood does when they find something that works. Fortunately for me the kids are older and I can now drop the kids off at the multiplex and either go get a good cup of coffee or if I'm really lucky there is a cinema that is just a block away from the best used record store in town.

I have to stipulate, that although I thought Ratatouille was pretty great, I think it didn't necessarily do a great job balancing interesting plot devices for both adults and kids. It sort of felt like 2 different films going on at the same time, with slapstick stuff to keep the kids from crying (I generally see pixar and animated films at midnight to avoid this anyway), with a sort of complex foodie-related plot and threw in some romance to make it a pseudo-date movie I suppose. In any case it's rather charming, if you can get past the scenes with rather realistic looking swarms of rats in the restaurant kitchen :P

Almost all of the Pixar movies are really enjoyable. But I'd pick Ratatouille as the best Pixar movie ever because it had a few things going for it that the other movies didn't have. For one thing, there was less of a reliance on celebrity voices to carry the film. I think that the earlier Pixar films were more formulaic and relied on a typical Hollywood buddy-picture plotline, whereas Ratatoutille used a form of the classic Cyrano de Bergerac story but with a completely creative and unique retelling. Also Ratatouille was about French people, and the French are pretty funny.
