I'm not so sure Obama would end the war. He has said that a lot through his campaign but then he says he has to 'review' things. I think the US will have some sort of military occupation in Iraq in my lifetime, which is unfortunate.

Obama originally said that he would pull the troops out of Iraq immediately. He later changed that to a 16 month time table. This was then changed to 19 months. Then he said he would listen to the Generals. Now he just blathers that he will "end" the war there and send troops to Afghanistan. I think he has proven...he has no clue.

That is a promise no candidate can do, because none of them have any idea of what is involved in military operations. Not to mention that things evolve from one day to the other and the operations must adjust accordingly. The end of the war will be when we feel relatively secure that Iraq is capable to handle itself and when the terrorist activities will not warrant the presence of our troops there. And that could happen next year or ten years from now.

The war in Iraq is winding down anyway, most of the troops will be leavening in the next 24 months. Barack Obama, Commander and Chief...That just doesn't sound right.

By... surrendering?

Absolutely. I believe when he says he will end the war in Iraq, he will do just that. And that's a real big issue with me.

And with the endorsement of the President of Iraq!

Everybody knows he'll end the war by surrendering to Al Kaida and then turning America into a Muslim nation in which it will be mandatory to marry someone of the same sex after turning in our guns and bibles.

Strange list that suggests the anti-Obama faction really feels it slipping away. (While our press downgrades the actual mass appeal in Europe of his tour- we get pictures of McCain in a golf cart with Bush Sr.- does McCain have a PR team?) As for 'ending' the war, prince Dumbo has said that after talking with parties involved he will move troops out on a certain timeline determined by updated information (that's 'intelligence' kids- not 'faith') If you hate prince Dumbo for his stance, fine- but the idea that he's a disaster because the next president must clean up dubya's mess then certainly don't hold as much against him as you do your dear leader of the present administration.

Wouldn't "winning" the war be a preferable outcome? Which side would he be rooting for?
irishgit 07/31/2008
Perhaps. Probably even. Just don't count on it to be immediate
