Obama's economic plan nearly mirrors that of Jimmy Carter- cut military spending, raise spending everywhere else, and raise taxes while selling ignorant people on the idea of "soak the rich". All this while using the power of the federal govt. to force "equality". We have seen this before. It did not work then and it will not work now.

Lets hope the economy improves, but I'm not sold on one man fixing it. As far as I'm aware Obama doesn't have any training as an economist.

He's certainly better qualified than his opponent. I think he knows what most Americans are going through.

He can't make it any worse than his predecessor.

A president has some (albeit limited) ability to 'fix' an economy.  And Obama's limitations on this issue seem to be the du-jour bashing  point by those who simply can't comprehend how prince Dumbo is doing very well thus far.  (Certainly he could slip up severely- it is August.)  I'd accept voters who simply don't agree with Dumbo- but this idea that he will or won't 'fix' the economy as a reason to support McCain (at present, a weaker candidate) is simply strange. 

He'll fix the economy the way he fixed the economic standing of his constituents on the streets of Chicago.  What did he buy his present house for a few years ago?  $1.65 million?  Right, he'll fix the economy, alright.

 Whether Obama can or will do anything about it, our economy's falling apart because American jobs were allowed - by crooked politicians in both parties - to be shipped overseas (and to Mexico, etc.).

As we slide into depression, I believe Obama is more likely to make life bearable for the nouveaux poor than McSAME is.

We need an FDR, but BHO is the best we're being offered.

A president on his own has little ability to "fix" the economy

Nope, its been mismanaged for decades and we get to eat it now. We can improve our situation, perhaps, but a magical fix isn't happening...
