Smart as relative to whom? He's a bright guy, but not an extraordinary intellect. He obviously has good political skills, but nothing extraordinary. He won the Democratic primary election by playing the nominating rules expertly. He won the General Election purely because of the tanking economy and the Republicans inept response to that. The Democrats could have put a dog on the ticket and still won. As President, I've found that many of his "reforms" have been nothing more than peripheral attempts at change. It's politics as usual in Washington. Who would have thought??

He is very smart, and you can tell that before he gets up to speak at any time, that he has done plenty of research about what he's talking about. And that, to me, is an important quality, and definitely earns the Presidency.

An examination of the estimated relative IQ scores of presidents in the 20th Century strongly suggest that by far the two smartest were Carter and Nixon. I don't know about you, but that cools my enthusiasm for brilliant presidents.

I don't want any of the morons I drink beer with to be president. I really do want somebody who is smarter than me, or aspires to be. The "I'm as dumb as you" schtick is old.
