I like the song, but it now seems too schmaltzy for my taste. I prefer a message with a harder edge.

I think this is a decent song, with a message of blacks and whites being able to accept one another and live in harmony, using the symbolism of the black and white keys on a piano. A timeless message, and can be applied to other issues in life, as well.

Has some value, if only in my personal life. I have a lady friend who is Jamaican. We go way back, but occasionally I'll do something (or not do something) that pisses her off, and interacting with a pissed off Jamaican woman can be a daunting prospect indeed. When it happens, I'll sometimes resort to singing a few bars of this song, and it tends to make her laugh...most times, anyway.

Perhaps the most embarassingly bad song ever released by major performers. A couple of pop tunesmiths attempting a song of more depth and seriousness, yet come up with a really flaccid and pukey little barf of sub-mediocrity.

I hear that the Buzzard Nuts conclave of the KKK and the South Chicago chapter of the Nation of Islam are holding a joint session to protest this song.

That this song is utterly dreadful is about the only thing you should agree with McGowan on that I can think of.
