8Tracks will be as good as the mixes that people make. Because they just launched, there's not that much there yet.
And is there enough here to beat, say, Imeem, or Pandora, or Last.FM (or even MixWit)? I'm not sure. There's playlists on Imeem that are pretty complete, and their library is huge. It seems to be late in the game to be launching a new destination music site.
It's worth taking 8Tracks for a spin though - it's a simple, clean design. Here's
