Definitely better than EVH. ;-)

UPDATE:

His style is deceptively simple, but few have mastered it.

Props to Canned Heat and ZZ Top.

I could go to any music class, in any grade school around the the world and find a kid that could play circles around this none talent. The people that praise him are the same people that think they are sophisticated because they can google "old blues guitarist" and then watch them on youtube. Then come to RIA and say "look at me, I know an old blues guitarist, aren't I COOL!". What a joke, just like this bum.

Not a guitar virtuoso but a fine bluesman.

John Lee Hooker 5

Hugely influential, immensely important figure in blues music, whose sound was borrowed by hundreds of others.

Instantly recognizable style, once heard, never forgotten.

Just his influence on subsequent blues and rock musicians alone merits a high ranking on this list- I was really surprised to see that he wasn't here before, being one of the crucial figures in that genre. With an arsenal of absolute blues classics and a highly distinctive style to boot, he deserves to be high up this list.
