Though I never witnessed a single episode of DALLAS (or DYNASTY, for that matter), one couldn't escape the hype about 'who shot J.R'.
I didn't care then; and I don't care now.
However, Carol Burnett's FRESNO mini series (which I'm told was a parody of DALLAS) was a riot.
UPDATE:
We've just been informed that DALLAS is as important a work of art as Motley Cooper's 'music'.
Stay tuned for further updates.

LOL-Dallas was a fun series not to be taken that seriously. There is a place for shows that have no real social relevance though Dallas did tackle subjects like alcoholism and abortion quite effectively. Not everything should be serious all the time. By the way, Kristen, JR's secretary and little sister of his wife Sue Ellen shot JR. That episode was one of the highest rated episodes in television history.

I'm not even sure who J.R. is, let alone who shot him.
And I'm happier for it.
(Ok, I knew he was in this sitcom-drama called Dallas, but I never watched it)

To forget who shot him would imply that I ever knew to begin with. As far as I was concerned, Dallas was just a show that old people like my grandma watched.

It'll come as a shock to the Boomers who think this moment in history was as big a deal as when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbour or as when Oswald Cobblepot assasinated John Kennedy, but half of the reviewers on the site probably have no idea who J.R. was, that he was shot, or that Dynasty was a far better show than Dallas for the lesbian catfights alone.
