Obama knows how many houses McCain owns, he's probably already made plans to move people into them who don't pay taxes in an effort to promote the 'share the wealth' campaign of his. It's a shame that people are upset that McCain is fiscally responsible in his own life when Obama's been throwing money around the campaign like it's candy in a parade full of bobble heads lining the pavement waiting for another handout. Another shame that someone is being kicked around for living the American Dream- what a good provider he is for his family, investing in their future.
How many shacks does Obama's brother squat in? I bet you Obama doesn't know that.

Aren't they ever gonna leave the poor guy alone? The older you get, the more you lose track of things...why should he be different than anybody else? And, he was a war hero, right?
Update: On 2nd thought, at the risk of being judged too flippant and/or harsh, let me just clarify one or 2 things. I'm not an "ageist". I know some people...not many, but a few...who are sharper at 90 than some are at 20. Too...I shouldn't have to repeat it, but I will...I'm not mocking McCain's war hero status. In the past, McCain never used his war hero status as a banner, a bludgeon, or a shield, and that was commendable. Recently, he seems to have changed his mind about that, and refers to his war hero status with as much constancy as Herr Giuliani used to refer to 9/11. I think what the confusion about how many houses he owns demonstrates is not that McCain is too old, or even too befuddled. Rather, it shows the total and appalling disconnect between guys like him, and the average working American. When it comes to politics, I'm basically jaded, cynical and fatalistic (not necessarily in that order). I don't expect much (and that includes not expecting much from Obama, by the way). But every once in awhile, something gets said or done by politicians that does touch a raw nerve. As someone who is an average working American...an average working American struggling very hard to keep the wolves from the door...what McCain said isn't something I can just blithely dismiss. If you can, more power to you.

I guess he's not wrapped up in the financial dealings of his heiress wife. Maybe he's got other things occupying his attention...

Like with Obama's "above my pay grade" comment, this is another moment that likely had staffer's on McCain's campaign cringing.
In and of itself, not a big deal, but its a stick for the Dems to beat him with that he didn't need to hand them.

It's not the houses per se, but the hypocrisy of calling Obama (who owns one house) and "elitist" when he and his wife are so loaded that he can't keep track of it all.

Dumb. He ought to have an answer to that. This gaffe is going to cost him. Most of the rest of America can easily anwer that question.

Nobody seemed to care when John Kerry didn't know how many cars and houses he owned, so why does this matter now?

At least he didn't but his houses with help from Rezco. I forgot how deprived B. Hussein Obama is in his 4 million dollar house.

There's a rumour going around that he owns property in all 57 states.

. . .and prince Dumbo is the 'elitist.' Still, it's not that big of a deal. I don't expect a stammering septuagenarian who will be blasting fecal matter into diapers within five years to remember how well off he is. The 2000 McCain was such a better model/candidate until he was sandbagged by rednecks in the SC primary. . .now he's putting forth the grumpy-Reagan almost-coherent persona meant to scare us all into not liking the smarter candidate. Actually Johann, what scares me more than real or alleged 'elitism' or 'arrogance' is your declining faculties and/or inability to summon what talent you have left at will.

I find it difficult to believe he could relate to average Americans.
