Good looking in a sensitive, almost pretty, sort of way rather than handsome, he only made 3 films before his premature death-- none of them all that great. He seemed to be channeling a mixture of Montgomery Clift and Marlon Brando (whom he supposedly hero-worshipped) in his performances (Brando allegedly told him after bumping into him at a Hollywood party that he should consult with a psychiatrist rather than an acting coach). I thought Dean had talent that, had he lived longer, might have developed into something truly great and uniquely his own, but he died before that could occur. I've read that he was bisexual and according to Kenneth Anger, author of "Hollywood Babylon" (and not always the most accurate of writers), Dean attended a lot of gay parties in Hollywood and NY, where he was allegedly known as "The Human Ashtray".

He was very sexy and attractive in a confused teenage boy way.  Women wanted to take care of him while a lot of men probably wanted to kick his ass. Though he had a brief chance to show the potential that was lost I always felt that even if he'd survived into middle or old age his self-destructive nature would have led him to burn out in any of a number of ways.  From what I’ve gleaned over the years, I think he was interested in both boys and girls to some degree but probably most involved with and enamored of himself. 

He may well have been a hunk, but he wasn't much interested in women.
