Farberware Classic Yosemite Stainless Steel Percolator 5

I purchased this percolator to keep in case of power outages so I could use on the burner of my gas grill. I did, of course, try it to see how it works. It made the coffee very nicely and I liked that you don't need to use a filter with it. The grounds all stayed within the basket. It is a lovely staniless steel pot. I would recommend it.

Farberware Classic Yosemite Stainless Steel Percolator 5

The Farberware Classic Yosemite Percolator is excellent overall. I was worried about the internal parts and whether they were made of aluminum or stainless steel, since there was nothing in the description or previous reviews on that. It was indeed made of the stainless steel, which is a mark of quality in my book. So many of the others I looked at were made of aluminum, which for health and medical reasons I have heard about, plus taste factors, I did not want.
There are only a couple of small design flaws in the making of this percolator and neither is something that would keep me from buying it over many of the others I looked at. The two flaws are the plasic perc cap, which has not failed for me yet, but I understand others have had trouble with it. It would be much better if it had been made of glass, but the heat transfer would be increased if it were, so there is a trade-off. AT least with the plastic top, you can use it without burning your fingers. The second problem, if you can call it one, is a general design flaw, which doesn't effect using it really. The way the top of the steel of the percolator wraps around and under, makes it a little more difficult to rinse out when cleaning it out and the hole that was drilled or punched out for the pour spout is round, instead of a cut out that would match the pour spouts shape externally. This does slow down the pouring of the coffee, but that may actually be a good thing considering your working with hot liquid. Seriously, none of the flaws I mentioned are actually flaws in so much as they are things that could possibly make the design just a little bit better. After not using a perculator in many many years, I was able to produce a great pot of coffee right off the bat and I won't go back to the drip style again. The flavor of the perc coffee is much sweeter and smoother. It doesn't have that mouth drying affect of the drip made coffee at all. The design of the coffee basket has been done so well that I have had nearly none or no grinds in the final drops of the pot. One trick I use is to wet the inside of the coffee basket prior to adding the coffee and it works like a dream. Bye, Bye filters.
There is a little bit more to the clean up each time you brew a pot and of course, you don't have a timer to preset your brew your coffee in the morning before you get up, but this is far outweighed by the flavor of the coffee and no longer needing filters.
If you are in the market for the taste of perked coffee, I would highly recommed this perculator.

This is the best percolator coffee pot on the market. Had one for close to 15 years and it finally gave up the ghost. Replaced it with this (slightly more modern) version of the same pot, and the coffee is as good as ever. Excellent pot - good coffee - start your day.

This product is superb. A long-term coffee drinker like me loves the untainted flavor of boiled coffee and this stainless steel perk does the job as I remember from years before the glass electric drip.
Bravo!!!!!!!
