Yes, Biden really represents 'change.' Not a good pick but Obama would've won w/ 'Raggedy Andy' as a running mate. Anyway, w/Joe Biden's hairplugs, Obama probably thought he was getting a two-fer.

Biden's experience and rep outrun his ability. He actually floundered badly in his debate with Palin, whatever one thinks of her performance, mixing up Hezbollah with Syria among a myriad of misstatements, but Biden got a pass from the press which actually praised him for the most part as "knowledgeable".

As a fit for Obama, Biden is a good choice. He is a first class blowhard but he has floated around and rubbed elbows with various foreign potentates. Obama is about zero experience in this category. Biden does very little for Obama in helping to win the election however. Biden is ":gravitas" for the ticket; a word that the media used when Bush picked Cheney in 2000.

Way too early to tell how good or bad a choice this was. Unlike others, however, I think a choice of Clinton would have been a mistake, in that it would have even further polarized the Democratic ticket.
I'm not surprised some of the more conservative reviewers on here think it would have been a good idea.

Biden was the only logical pick once Hillary was no longer a possibility. How far ahead would Obama be now had he danced with the devil and tapped Billary? It's an old expression, you dance with who brung ya. Obama decided he could win without her and her very loyal, partially non-transferable following. He may win anyway if he can make democrats forget about the 800 pound gorilla in the room, or rather, not in the room.

You call that change, an old democratic stalwart whos got 20+ yrs in Washington. Obviously Obama trying to make up for his lack of experience, but he kinda put his foot in his mouth by going back to the past with that VP pick.

I'm really surprised that Obama chose Biden as his running mate, especially since he didn't make it very far in his presidential run.
