Lancelot Link was one of my favorite cartoons when I was a kid. For two years I pestered my mother for a pet chimp, but in hindsight, recent events prove how wise mom was.

Scene: In a chair in front of a crackling fireplace, with an impressive collection of books behind me, and a bust of Socrates to my right. I am wearing a monocle and a smoking jacket while smoking a pipe. I close the book I've been reading and look up:" Oh, hello !" (mock surprise) Glad you could join me in the parlor. Today, we shall conduct a reappraisal of Lancelot Link. This delightful exemplar of pan troglodytes, or, in the common vernacular, chimpanzee is a most refreshingly witty fellow. Ladies and genteleman, this clever fellow had the powers of speech and had an uncanny similarity in voice to the celebrated American thespian Humphrey Bogart. Each time, Lancelot Link and his primate assistants would save the world from the very real and imminent threat posed by an evil organization. In brilliant skits topped only perhaps by Aeschylus and The Bard of Avon himself, our trenchcoat clad hero Lancelot ( doubtlessly named for his striking similarities with Arthur's greatest knight) would almost singlehandedly foil the evildoers. Yet our chimpanzee was not some business only caper solver. Heaven forbid! In his spare time, Link would...pardon the expression.. let his hair down and compose contemporary tunes of what the youth of today endearingly call rock n' roll with his band, The Evolution Revolution...

Lancelot Link was such a terrific show, and I can't believe he isn't already on this list.
