Sharp R-216LS Compact Size 0.8 Cu-Foot 3

This Sharp microwave works fine, but when you close its door, it's pretty loud. My previous microwave was also from Sharp, but it was built much better and the door closed quietly. This microwave sounds like cheap plastic. if you're buying it then I would advice you to check the microwave in a store to see what it is like before purchasing. But otherwise, it works fine. It's a nice size for an apartment or college dorm. It's slightly bigger than the smallest microwaves out there. For the most part it's a guood buy at this price. It has stainless steel front panels. The two things I didn't like about this unit is the door is pretty loud when you close it. Also the LCD is not backlit so you need to turn on the light to see the time. Also when you open the door the inside of the microwave does not light up. It only lights up during heating. The carousel is not noisy like some of the reviewers say. You need to correctly align the carousel plate with the three rollers.

Everything looks good; except when turning on, the mechanism that turns the round glass plate, makes too much cracking sounds. I plan to take it to a local service to repair. Not very please with Sharp.

Because of limited counter/kitchen space in my new apartment, I needed a small but efficient microwave oven. I decided to shop online as I really did not have time to got to 5 or 6 stores and measure ovens. I selected the Sharp based on the dimensions. I measured my space before ordering. I was pleasantly surprised when the microwave oven arrived, as it not only is a good fit but is extremely good looking, and does the job just fine. I basically use a microwave to defrost, heat leftovers, and soften ice cream. This oven does all of that with ample speed and power. It is nicer looking than anything I saw in Target, Costco, etc. If you want a small, easy to use, and attractive oven this one is for you.

I have had this microwave for about a month now and I am extremely satisfied with both it's performance, features, and sleek design. This is probably the 5th microwave I have owned in 20 years, and I have to say it cooks more evenly and to the second than any other machine I have ever used. What I mean by "to the second" is that if a microwave dinner say, "4 1/2 - 5 minutes, let rest 2 minutes when done" and you choose the higher number (5 minutes) and hit the timer for 2 minutes when it's done - perfection (as a microwave meal can be, of course).

It also has a large number of programming features that would benefit the major meal cooking multi-tasker.

With an easy to clean black plastic door and keypad, and brushed stainless top and bottom accents, it is also a very attractive addition to any kitchen.
