Whenever my allergies start acting up I have to use my nasal spray Flonase (over the counter over.)Which if I didn't have my allergy symptoms in string and fall are that bad I would have to wear a mask. I found the best information on Flonase at "kiwi drug" which is the information site I came across 3 yrs back.

I am 59 years old and I too had taken one Drixoral per day for over 30 years. It was the only medication I had found which took away the nausea caused by eating (post nasal drip draining into stomach)and it also helped greatly with nasal decongestion. I have tried at least 6 - 7 other meds since the medication was discontinued and NONE of them have worked. I have had an increase in nausea, and have developed shortness of breath and have been diagnosed with asthma since I have been without Drixoral. I'm curious whether anyone else has had similar symptoms/diagnoses? Thanks!

Drixoral is a very effective combination of Antihistamine :Dexbrompheniramine Maleate 6 mg and Decongestant : Pseudoephedrine Sulfate 120 mg.
Although it has been discontinued in the US for some time, it is readily available in Canada from online pharmacies. I have personally tried http://www.trumedcanada.com/OTC/Drixoral.Dexbromphe niramine.cold.12.hour.relief.aspx>TruMedCanada.com>
and have been fully satisfied with their customer service as well as the fact that they are not back ordered and ship on the same day!!!
Good luck!!

Please help us allergy sufferers!! Drixoral is the only thing that works on me too. Whoever made those claritin "allergy fog" commercials surely wasn't talking about claritin...they had to be talking about drixoral! It takes about 2 hours on me to work, but it lasts all day long. This constant sinus pressure behind my eyes is driving me crazy since I ran out of drixoral. Is there any other way than Canada to get it?

I have been using Drixoral since I was sick for 6 straght month will fluid build ups in my head and throat, a doctor snidely said maybe you should try Drixoral, I did and have been an advid daily user since 1979. Since the news has spread the Canada pharm. I used a month ago has tripled the price from $12.99 for 20 to $34.99 for 20 pills. How unfortunate that if we can get them at all we have to be rapped by the price and then add the shipping. WHAT A BUMMER, I FEEL AS THOUGH I WILL NEVER BREATHE FEELY AGAIN. :-(

I've had allergie's for years and my Dr. perscribed Clairatin when it was still perscription only. The pills were expensive at $30.00. I started taking Drixoral and it worked wonders. I'm so upset about not being able to get it. The pharmasist recomended something else and it was 3 times the price. Give me back my Drixoral, it works and the price didn't break the bank.

Look what I just found, Lodrane 24D, an alternative to Schering-Plough's Drixoral! "ECR Pharmaceuticals has launched a second once-a-day allergy product, Lodrane 24D, an extended release formulation of brompheniramine maleate and pseudoephedrine HCl. Lodrane 24D utilizes Elite's proprietary extended release technology to provide once-daily dosing of an effective, low-sedating antihistamine combined with a decongestant. The once-a-day formulation is designed to enhance patient convenience and compliance for those who require chronic allergy therapy. Unlike the previous formulation, Lodrane 24, this new version also has decongestant effect to relieve stuffy nose. Looks like it's prescription which is fine with me as I won't be limited by the new OTC/behind the counter policy limitations. Walmart's pharmacist was able to order it overnight for me. As for Schering-Plough's complete lack of regard for the welfare of their customers.. I'll never buy another Schering-Plough product so long as I live.

I discovered Drixoral while it was still by priscription only and prescribed for my daughter. When it went OTC, I started using it and found it's results far superior to all others. If meth manufacturing is the reason for it's removal from the market, make it "prescription only" again! Drixoral works!!!

Just found out today that my last box of Drixoral can't be replaced -- the diligent but stupid pharmacist tried to con me into believing that he had something just as good...back to the drawing board over a miniscule fraction of the population that was helped by this medication. Add me to the list of 25+ years of taking this drug and pissed off at the no-notification stance this company took. Pah!

big deal every rich senator is sitting on committees worried about some ball player using steroids...they don't even have a clue about us common people...drixoral is a drug that clearly works...some prescriptions don't work and others mess my system up...I would rather have the allergies than the symptons...this is something that should be discussed and corrected...drixoral needs to be on the market, as it always was also...Bill from Lower Burrell, PA

I have been using Drixoral for about 2years now. It truly is the only drug that works for a 12 full hours. Wal-Zyr just doesn't cut the pollen. I too agree that the manu. has stopped due to acsessive abuse from meth aditics.

Add me to the list of people who have used this since childhood (I am now in my 50s). Personally, I agree with amandars' comment. People will find a way to screw themselves up regardless of how many restrictions the government puts on everything. As for me, I have 3 lonely Drixoral tablets left and I am hoarding them for really bad days. Someone mentioned Canadian pharmacies? A link, please!

I too suffer from severe allergies and find that only Drixoral can help. Just to let you all know what the pharmacist told me, the reason for the unavailability is the drug war being fought by the current administration. Drixoral has been placed under increasingly strict regulations until they just recently began banning it in the states. Drixoral is a major ingredient in Meth. To be honest, I don't care how many people are screwing themselves up with Meth, if it is relieving thousands of people suffering from severe allergies, just let us have our medicine! I really think this is something that should be brought the attention of our legislators. Start writing your state representatives, please!

I've taken Drixoral for 34 years because nothing else works. My husband and 2 adult children use it as well. I think it is being reformulated which likely means it won't work as well. I did just order some from a Canadian Pharmacy although it costs a bit more. I was able to order 3 boxes of 20. In Texas I could only purchase one box at a time.

I have been taking Drixoral for years, and it has worked great for me. I just found out that it is no longer available. I am really upset about this. Does anyone know where we can get it??? New Mexico - The Flowers

My family has been using this since the 80's when it was by perscription only. By family, I mean my mother, father, brother, myself, and now my 10 year old son. The doctors gave him zyrtec, claritian, Rinacort & nothing will help him. Drixoral helps us all, please stop this unavailability. I can't understand the problem, it sure can't be for lack of demand from the other comments I have read on this page. Pascagoula, Ms - the Tallman Family.

I've tried Claritin and Zyrtec and neither work for me. I've been taking Drixoral 24/7 for years. I don't know how I'll treat my allergies without it.
ja2da12 05/27/2008
Drixoral is the only thing that works for me. Please put this medication back on the market. I have tried others and they don't work.
dstutzel 05/27/2008
Drixoral is the only allergy medication that has ever worked on me and now I find out it is being discontinued by the company! Why would something be taken off the market when it really works! I am using Claritin-D now and it doesnt work at all! Please make them distribute Drixoral again here in Centerville, Iowa. Thanks!
Vudija 02/17/2008
The only thing I HAVEN'T tried on this list is Zicam; with that said, Drix. is the only thing that I have EVER found that actually works for me.

I have had chronic sinus congestion for years and used to get frequent infections. I have no medical insurance and need to work, so this wouldn't do. Ever since I have discovered Drixoral, I have not had one sinus infection. It is the only sinus/allergy medicine that works for me (trust me, I've tried them all) and does not make me feel tired, lethargic and sick. Members of my family take it when they have colds or allergies and they prefer it to other over the counter medication also.
jclark 02/02/2006
In the 30 years I have had to take allergy medication it is the ONLY medication that has worked for me with any degree of consistancy. Side effects for me were groggyness which always put me in a foul mood. However, If I take it before I go to bed at night I don't have that problem. And I rarely need to take one during the day!
upchuck 05/30/2000
As good as any of them, they say if you medicate a cold it will last 7 days, do nothing and it will last a "week".
