 | Moosekarloff (18) 08/07/2003 | An immensely talented draftsman with total control over his materials, but not daring enough. Overrated. Appeals to people who want to like modern art, but don't understand abstraction or the totally non-objective.

I belive he was an artist with amazing potential who confined himself to the point where his true value as a modern artist/impressionist went unrealized. Early in his career he showed amazing talent in his drawings that depicted common life in France during the late 1800's. But Degas got too fixated on capturing human movement and directed too much of his artwork towards paintings of nude women and ballet dancers.
