 | magellan (179) 07/14/2008 | Great character, but I never had any idea that his name was "Foghorn Leghorn." Is that mentioned in any of the cartoons anywhere? I've also thought of him as "big rooster."

 | Spike65 (17) 07/02/2008 | My favorite Loony Toons character by far. His battles with the dog and Henry Hawk's attempts to subdue Foghorn for a meal are very funny.

 | darwinkoyama (0) 06/29/2004 | Hey, Rusty -- Foghorn Leghorn is not a caricature of the ugly American. The extremely popular Fred Allen radio show had a character named Senator Claghorn (voiced by Kenny Delmar), a southern politician. Foghorn talks *exactly* like Senator Claghorn, and that was the joke that every contemporary viewer understood. Most of us young'uns never heard of Fred Allen until we chanced upon a golden age of radio show.

 | tvtator (6) 11/27/2003 | One of my favorites of The Looney Tune characters. First I just loved the way he talked, and I loved the schemes he would pull and his somewhat arrogance.

 | Rusty (0) 10/07/2001 | One of my personal favorites. A cartoon caricature of "the ugly American," Foghorn Leghorn is somewhat underrated if only because he really didn't seem to have a strong supporting cast like Bugs or Daffy did, which shows you what a strong, obnoxiously domineering personality he had. His running feud with "that dumb ol' dowg" ("Hey...I made a funny! STRING! BONE! HYUK-YUK-YUK-YUK!") and the ever-present "rope limit" sign that was as far as the dog could chase him were constants throughout his cartoons. Henery Hawk was Foggy's constant annoyance, primarily because Henery was such a little shrimp, I could never take him seriously, although I loved his bravado ("Are ya gonna come along quietly or do I hafta mush ya up?!?") I also loved it whenever Miss Prissy pined for him and when Egghead Jr. tried patiently to correct his outlandish schemes ("Pay, I say, pay attention when Ah'm TALKIN' to ya, boy!"). The weasel was a funny character, too, as well as when Foggy's feathers blew off, since he "always kept his feathers numbered for just such an emergency." Remember when Foghorn was using the Ace Novelty Company's Pipe-Full-O-Fun-Kit Number 7? Or when the dog made Foggy come to his senses and realize that Prissy loved him, and so he pretended to be a rooster and schemed with Prissy by pretending to be a romantic rival ("Hey, ya ornery snake-in-the-grass! This gal loves ME!") Foghorn Leghorn is a classic loudmouth who thinks he knows everything but really knows nothing except how to whack the bejeezus out of the dog and laze around the henhouse.

 | MorgansInJesus (1) 05/17/2001 | Saw a young man in an AOL chat room a few years ago that could type fast just the way ole Foghorn Leghorn speaks in the cartoon... It was the funniest thing I ever saw or read in any chatroom. Absolutely cracked me up reading the way he was typing away comments just exactly the way Foghorn would say them. It was hilarious!!!"

 | DirtDauber (0) 05/14/2001 | “Well I’ll be, what’s that dog, I say what’s that dog up to now.” Man what a riot Foghorn Leghorn is, he’s pulled more schemes than any good con man could ever think of. Between trying to get the old widow’s money, the tricks he played on dog, and keeping the chicken hawk from eating him, he was one busy barn yard bird. Had an answer for anything and right about everything. He wasn’t cute like Bugs or Daffy, you liked him because you knew he was up to something that wasn’t really going to work out anyway. With all the feathers he had to replace over the years, I would be rich if I could have invested in feather suites.
