 | brasilia (0) 11/16/2008 | Oh yes, I agree with everyone. This product falls apart after using it for a short while and then you have to throw away the huge chunk that breaks off. (or the several smaller chunks) I am new to Mitchum and when this happened, I called the company to let them know my experience. They led me to believe that what I experienced was unusual and they sent me 2 coupons to replace the product. So I bought a few more and it has happened again to EVERY one. Apparently, it is the product. It does not leave a white residue on my clothes, but it is a waste if I have to throw away half of the product every time. I will look for another brand.

 | krewjay (0) 10/01/2008 | What a rip off the new Smart Solid is. I call it the Stupid Solid. I too am a 30+ year user of Mitchum. You can't use it without it breaking up. I have tried several ways to use it but, each time it breaks off. I throw away more than I use. I am going to try another brand.

 | Jedd (0) 10/01/2008 | The problem my wife and I have is that the "formula" we want only comes uncented. Come on, unscented??????? No anti-perspirant/deodorant keeps you totally stench free. There are times of some need for odor control-like the end of the day. PLEASE bring back Mitchum Solid Scented Stick!

 | NGG (0) 09/25/2008 | This product claims to not leave a trace on clothing - not true. I can't begin to tell you the # of times I have had traces on my clothes. And on top of this MANY of my t-shirts become stained by this product!

 | susanins (0) 08/23/2008 | URGENT!!! I have been a long-time user of Mitchum's solid stick, but you have recently changed your formula and you now call it "Smart Solid." I am unable to find any of your original formula now so assume you have stopped producing it. This "smart solid" has the unfortunate habit of breaking off - in pieces, as it is being used. The consequence is that I am throwing away small chunks of your product, and also have to crawl around on the bathroom floor, picking them up before my dog finds them and eats them. I am now using my second "smart solid" and thought I should give it one more try - that perhaps I had gotten hold of an old or dried-out product the first time. This one is still the same. It is OK for the first week or so, but as I get farther down it, it starts to break off in little pieces as I rub it against my skin. I have tried being very gentle with my strokes, but that doesn't seem to make any difference.
Hope you will look into this and make some adjustments to your formula. I am going to have to start experimenting with other products to find one that is as effective as yours, but doesn't crumble!! I can't keep throwing away half your product when it crumbles!
NOTE _ I only just realized there were other comments written on this page!! Duh!! I was thrilled to see that almost 100% of them were complaining about the exact same thing!!!
Hey - Mitchum Makers - Aren't you listening??????????

 | ralphie90 (0) 06/27/2008 | I just bought the Mitchum Anti-perspirant gel and it just doesn't work AT ALL as far as helping with perspiration. As I haven't used deodorant/anti-perspirant sticks for a couple of years, I can't seem to remember which brand worked well for me. But this is truly a waste of time and money.
Furthermore, the stick reads: "Bonus! 25% more". Well, perhaps, but the plunger on the container is almost halfway up! (yes, it was an unused stick with the protective seal on the opening). Why then can't they make it smaller then? Well, because as we all know that it part of the "market to sell" ploy. I am still using the Right Guard spray, which still works better than Mitchum (or should I perhaps say - "MyChump")

 | jimwiz (0) 05/05/2008 | I've used Mitchum deoderant for 35 years......and the new formula is a joke. The "solid" is doughlike, breaking off at the half used point, and the effectiveness, is minimal....the liquid application, is a bad joke, effectively worthless..I refuse to use this now inferior product, and am looking for a replacement.......35 years later.

I will not use again. I bought 2 and will not use them again. I think I deserve a coupon if they want me to use their products again!

 | 88merlin (0) 04/27/2008 | for the ladies brand, now that they've changed the formula to not leave the "white on your close" and gone more gel based (even though the label does not say gel), by the middle of the it quits working. I used to luv this product as it would last the day and more, but now I need to find another Anti_perspirant.

 | Beaches160 (0) 03/23/2008 | I usually purchase the Mitchum powder fresh scent and love it. I mistakenly purchased the "unscented" and was very disappointed by the scent it had. It actually gave me a headache. So if it's suppose to be "unscented" WHY is there a scent??? This will make me be more careful when purchasing in the future. Rating the "UNSCENTED" with only one star, due to the bad scent it projects. 5 stars to the powder fresh scent.

 | sandrakoziol1 (0) 03/03/2008 | I purchased Mitchum Solid for Women and 1/4 to 1/2 through the container the deodorant started breaking off in big hunks to the point that it could no longer be used I was disappointed with this, it was a waste of my money. The deodorant does work very good but it does leave a white residue on your clothing, I have used the solid as mentioned above and the gel both leave marks.

 | brake4squirrels (0) 02/27/2008 | I have used mitchum since high school (almost 12 years now) and was very excited (well very excited might be overstating it a little) to start using the new smart solid. It is one of the worst products I have ever used. I bought one stick and it worked ok, I wasn't thrilled with the protection, it was so watery that half way through the day I felt like I was actually sweating more than I normally would (not that Im an overly sweaty person or anything). I bought a second stick though because I like mitchum and didn't really think too much about trying something else at the time (lazy). Less than half way through that stick it started to break and crumble into pieces, I thought...hmm...maybe this one was just defective or something (well thats not all I thought but the rest might not be appropriate). So me, apparently being a glutton for punishment, went out and bought my third stick and lo and behold, halfway through, the stupid thing started to crumble and fall apart. I do believe, sadly, that was the last stick of mitchum I will ever buy. I happened to tell my friend about this dilemma, (yes, we actually had a conversation about deodorant, riveting, I know) and she told me she too has tried this product and experienced the same problem. At this point I have to say I would much rather go back to having a little white on my shirts over having little (sometimes huge) chunks of deodorant flying all over my bathroom (trust me, not fun if you miss a piece and get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night).

 | tdvorak77 (0) 02/11/2008 | I have been using mitchum for over 5 years and realy enjoyed the deodorant but when they swiched the formula to the new smart solid I want to look for a new deodorant. The new formula leaves me feeling sticky. I wish they would bring back the original formula. If they did I would be a lifelong costumer. The reason that I swiched to them in the first placed is because I break out in a rach from any other brand. I give the new smart solid 2 thumbs down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 | momo3 (0) 01/13/2008 | I have used Mitchum Anti-Perspirant solid unscented for over 30 years.I am sorry to say, that since you changed the product by including a no white residue ingredient the product has changed for the worst. It no longer works as well and the solid stick starts to fall apart before it is even halfway used. Once again, New and improved translates into new and not as good! After all these years I have now had to shop for a new deodorant. I would rather have white marks than this new Mitchum product.

 | AnneM (0) 10/23/2007 | I find that the Unscented Mitchem has an unpleasant odor all of its own. I spent the summer thinking it was me that was producing this odor even after I had just showered. Finally, I decided to smell both containers of Mitchum Solid Unscented that I had. YES--I finally have the answer. It is the deodorant that smells--not me! I have no other choice but to change deodorants after many years with Mitchum. Guess they must have changed their formula

 | eddonovan (0) 09/26/2007 | Mitchum's used to be great but in the last month it has ruined three expensive shirts with pink-purple stains under the armpits. I was not even sweating at the time. I'm calling their number 888-8-mitchum to find out what they plan to do about it. In the meantime I'd rather stink than use that crap.

 | Ardensai (0) 07/21/2007 | I have a minor perspirant issue, the mainstream products are effective but none last for 24 hours. When I found out about Mitchum couple years back, it used to be my answer to perspirant.
Mitchum used to be the best deodorant I've used all these years. It used to live up the standard of their slogan "So Effective You COuld Skip A Day", until they changed the formula.
Previously, they had 20% of aluminum zirconium tetrachlorohydrex gly in their product, I could applied it to my underarm and it'd stay dry and kept odor away for more than 24 hours, even after excessive workouts. (I still have one of the old empty bottle sitting around)
The products I see today no longer consist of the above ingredient, instead, they replaced it with aluminum sesquichlorohydrate of 25%. Furthermore, their well-known slogan is no more. Gosh, how much I hate the new formula. The clear gel NO LONGER keeps my underarm dry, even when the weather isn't hot or humid!
In fact, I just took a shower couple hours ago and after a walk outside, I already feel extremely uncomfortable in my underarm, and I could smell a bit of odor as well.
Mitchum is really ineffective right now and this is the last tube of clear gel that I'll ever buy from Revlon. Goodbye Mitchum. If I knew the formula got changed, I wouldn't have stocked them up last time. (bought 3 tubes together) Rest in peace my old love.

 | DaveMac (0) 03/20/2007 | The Mitchum Cool Dry, Hydro Solid "No white residue. No Staining." variation is terrible. After a day in the office with it, my wife said I smell worse than a day in the garden without it. Ineffective for me.

 | billy madatmitchum (0) 02/14/2006 | this antiperspirant stinks. I have had to wear undershirts under everything so as no to sweat out. Within minutes of putting on this crap, I have wets pots under my arms, which stay there until i take off the shirt- and yes! it DOES leave residue on shirts, which it claims not too. in my eyes a worthless product. I will be trying Maxim antiperspirant next, other than odor protection, Mitchum is a step up from wearing no deodorant at all.

 | -starfire- (0) 02/02/2006 | I think Mitchum is fabulous! I was seriously getting worried before when I had tried loads of other deodorants (including Right Guard and some various roll ons) that all failed to last even an hour sometimes less than that before getting wetness and odour.
I used Mitchum for the first time today and for once I ahve been completely dry all day long at college! I can even wear my top again before it gets washed because there is no odour.
I totally recommend this product.

 | bfcam (0) 12/16/2005 | The product works well for me but the gel comes out. I travel all the time and when I open the lid it is full of the stuff. This is with the "new improved" formula. I'd whish these companies would just stick with what works.

 | FeMerican (0) 09/28/2005 | When I started using Mitchum in the 1970s, it was a clear liquid in a small bottle with a blue silky top through which the liquid seeped onto your skin when pressed against it. Back then it really WAS "so good you could even skip a day," and when I compared ingredients, their formula was completely different from all the others. The main ingredient was one I'd never heard of, before or since.
Then they started tinkering with it, and it has steadily gone downhill. Now it's essentially the same formula as all the other "mainstream" brands, and doesn't even work as well as some of those.
The latest formula, which claims it doesn't leave white marks on your clothing, also doesn't leave much protection on your underarms. I haven't had a problem with actual underarm ODOR (just wetness) in literally decades, but with this latest incarnation, I've begun to. So although I've been a loyal customer all these years, I'm through with Mitchum.

 | RachWilk (0) 09/01/2005 | I think Mitchum is terrible! I bought it from Boots thinking it would stop me from sweating seeing as it says on the tube So good you could skip a day. It is a complete lie, I put Mitchum on and within a couple of hours I was sweating and smelling!! I couldn't believe it after all the bother of trying to find a AP that would work for me. Also, even worse, it left BRIGHT BLUE STAINS ON THE UNDERARMS OF ALL MY CLOTHES!!! AND THEY DO NOT COME OUT IN THE WASH. I now use Nivea and it is great. Please don't use Mitchum if you don't want to buy a whole new wardrobe. I bought this Mitchum from a Boots in Manchester.

Alas it was not to be, within 1 hour of putting this under my arms I had wet patches on my clothing. I was only too glad to have bought it in Boots where they were having a offer on it and it was 1 off!! Whoopee doo!! I wouldn't touch this poor range of products again. I

 | LaurasTshirt (0) 09/08/2004 | I have tried this product over the past few years, and I have to say it's very disappointing. I never, ever have problems with smell, but sweat seems to pour from my armpits totally limiting the tops or outfits I can wear. It's especially bad when stressed or nervous, and in places like nightclubs where I always have to go for black strappy tops as they seem to be the only things that don't reveal it. It's horrible when you have wet patches and can't seem to get rid of them. Mitchum may work for some people, but definitely not for me.

Sometimes I will wake up late on Saturday and get going for the day, washing the car, running errands, working in the yard, and won't shower until later that night. Even after all that, my pits don't stink. (verified by independant sources =) ). I used to use a cream you had to get your hands messy for, and that was the only thing I found to work better.

 | DonS (0) 05/11/2003 | I have been using Mitchum Roll on for over 10 years. I swear by it's results. However, When they switched to green plastic bottles, that said "Same great formula" I noticed a difference in the protection. I was losing my condidence in the product. Thought I changed physiology somehow and was smelling stronger. Then I happend on a cache of the old glass bottles at Big Lots for a great price. I stocked up. My confidence in the product is back, but I wonder how I will feel when I finally run out of the "Old" formula. It works the way I remember. I think the "Same great formula" is not the same !

I love the old style roll on. Not the clear gel!
But thats what works best for me. Anyone trying anything new like this should give the product at least 2 wks to work.
I am having troubles finding the roll on these days. Are they weeding out the white roll on for the gels? I hope not! If anyone has heard anything let me know!

 | Trev_bob (0) 02/28/2003 | Mitchum doesn’t work for $#^&. Since I’ve been working out and getting into shape, once and a while I like to wear those firm cotton shirts. (Tight so that your stature is more revealing) The only problem is that when I do, I’d get big wet blots between my arms, which can be a little embarrassing. After reading the BS testimonials here I thought Mitchum was just the thing I needed. I’ve been using Mitchum for over a week and I don’t think it even reduced the rate of perspiration. I may be the kind of guy that requires a prescription strength anti-per sprint, but from experience Mitchum does work at all.

 | apparati (0) 01/03/2003 | Anti-perspirants work by actually interfering with your body's ability to eliminate toxic wastes such as urea. That can't be good. It's unfortunate that Corporate America uses television commercials to persuade consumers into thinking that nature is offensive. The Chinese do not wear deodorants, nor to Africans. So it might be safe to say that there are more people in the world DON'T wear deoderant than those who DO.
