 | aireeonyea (0) 12/03/2008 | I have been using Tom's Long Lasting Apricot Deodorant for about 3 weeks now. I have sensitivity issues with many other deodorants, but I have not broken out since using this product. It smells very strong when I first put it on, but the scent soon leaves and I find myself re-applying it often. I don't have a problem with this, because my only issue with other deodorants was the aluminum and putting on more of Tom's doesn't equal putting more aluminum on my skin. I would not recommend it for anyone who has severe sweating/smelling issues, or someone who doesn't want to reapply.

 | peeling (0) 11/28/2008 | After the first few days of using this product I was happy that it proved an effective deorderant. I am by no means a person who is prone to allergies, infact I dont think I am allergic to anything. Nor do I have sensitive skin. However after a week of using this the skin under my arm had started severe peeling, almost like a snake shedding its skin. I was not happy, from reading around I discovered I was not the only person that this product had this effect on. My question is how well was this product tested before releasing, I cant imagine very well. I will be sending mine back for a refund.

 | evenstar03 (0) 11/01/2008 | The only natural deodorant that smells delicious and keeps me stink-free the whole day with less prespiration (hard qualities to find in a natural deodorant). I'm talking about the Apricot long-lasting care one. This is for people who are trying to find a good natural deodorant but maybe not for those who need a prescription strength, extreme sweat & anti-funk formula. Lol.

 | nevermore1232 (0) 10/13/2008 | I bought the Apricot 12 hr long-lasting odor protection & it's awful. This was my first time buying a Tom's product & I bought it so I wouldn't be constantly putting aluminum into my body but Tom's is NOT working for me. I've had to reapply it 4 times a day & last night I was at a party & forgot to bring it with me & I ended up smelling. I was so self-conscious at the party & made sure to clamp my arms tight at my side so no weird aroma was coming from my pits. I am not thrilled with this product as it offered NO 12 hr (or even 3 hr!) long-last "protection".
I noticed someone mention "Funk Butter" in their comment so I am going to buy that & see if that works better than Tom's.

 | kwid (0) 10/12/2008 | Wow! I can't believe how terrible this deoderant is! Never in my life have I put on deodorant and wondered who was smelling SO bad, just to realize moments later that it was me. I recommend the deodorant Funk Butter, a great all natural product. But Tom's...oh my goodness. Dogs smelled better than I did with Tom's.

 | 667877PB (0) 10/07/2008 | I was excited to try an all natural deoderant, I used this for about a week in the lemongrass scent. The smell was faint but nice and it helped pretty much. If if got really hot I was still a little funky. But the worst part was it irritated my skin soooooo bad, my skin was red and itchy and peeling. I don't know if i was allergic or soomething but this stuff is supossed to gentle!

 | queennadia (0) 08/30/2008 | I rate Tom's Apricot deodorant a One. I'm trying to be considerate of the elements I allow in my body and considerate of the ones that come out. However, an unpleasant smell is one that I surely want to keep stable. Using tom's is not working for ME...again for ME at all. I feel like I never put deodorant on at all. Also, as I read from another commentor...I have to reapply at least twice a day. One shouldnt have to do all that. Also, I believe it's causing my skin to peel or somethings going on under those arms that I'm going to have to find out.

 | karenhol (0) 08/05/2008 | I bought this deodorant because it has no aluminum in it and I have to say that I am very happy with it so far. I just got thur exercising on a treadmill and before with my other popular named deodorant, I would have BO, but I didn't with Tom's. I also did not have any underarm wettness. I bought the stick with apricot. The only thing I've noticed with using it is that after applying, it takes a while to dry so I would be sure that it was dry before putting on your clothes. The only reason I rated this 4 stars is that I wished it would have a more pleasant smell even though the apricot is not bad. Otherwise, I am very pleased with the performance and will definitely continue using.

 | vskimmy (0) 07/31/2008 | This deodorant made my underarms smell FUNKY! It did cover up the sweaty arm-pit smell but made them smell very different in a bad way.

 | Val818 (0) 06/15/2008 | As far as controlling body odor, this product works wonderfully. Unfortunately if you put on a fitted shirt right after applying you will be left with two wet spots that will take some time to dry up. Also this product doesn't do much in the controlling wetness department.

 | Untrusting (0) 06/13/2008 | I bought Tom's fragrance free deodorant for my stinky boyfriend and it sorta worked, but the smell really wanted to come through on him and eventually did. I bought the lavender for myself and have reapplied 2x a day for a few days, and it seems to be working but I don't trust it. I don't smell terrible, but I don't smell like lavender either. I won't buy this brand again.

 | IsaacsF (0) 03/09/2008 | I love this product myself, and have managed to convince my wife (more or less) that she should use it exclusively. (She does so for me but occasionally reverts to anti-perspirant.)
People should understand two things: 1) deodorant is NOT anti-perspirant, and 2) sweat is not sinful.
Now I'm not saying this product is for everyone, but I prefer something less flowery and more natural than any anti-perspirant can deliver. I have a vague, lurking suspicion in the back of my mind that shutting down sweat glands isn't a good idea, but I'm not going to make any claims as to what ills it causes...just that it seems not necessary to take a chance on. And let me just say (with as much discretion as possible) that I much prefer a product that isn't so bitter-tasting that it makes one pucker up for 10 minutes after touching the tongue.

 | humiliated (0) 10/19/2007 | I used the supposedly improved apricot stuff yeaterday and I had MAJOR body odor during my last class of the day. The person I partnered with in class could barely look me in the face---horrifying and humiliating.

 | petshoptype (0) 10/04/2007 | It really does depend on which one you buy. I have lavender right now and it's not working that well but apricot did REALLY well. As for the price, yes it's pricier, but one stick lasted me almost 6 months, and yes, I applied it daily.

 | jjm1965 (0) 01/19/2006 | This rating is based on my personal experience, so I recommend at least trying it out before forming your own opinion. I really wanted this product to be 5 stars, since it would be nice to be able to depend on an all natural product. However, with by body chemistry none of Tom's Of Maine's deodorants nor anti-perspirants were effective on odor unless I re-applied it twice a day. With most brands, I usually do not need to apply more than once a day. I give this brand 3 stars overall because friends have told me they liked it.

 | gaflhakshg (0) 01/03/2006 | This stuff doesn't really work. I don't sweat much at and I find this stuff doesn't work any better than not wearing deodorant at all. I'm using the roll-on and it goes on super-slimey.

 | slugga25 (0) 05/17/2005 | Possible the best deodorant on the market, gentle but very effective.
Having read some of the other comments I think some people should try taking it out of the packet first.

 | jred (0) 10/10/2003 | Tom must be super rich. He has tricked people into thinking he has a safe alternative to products like deodorant and toothpaste. Tom charges 2-3x what other companies do for peace of mind. The only problem is, since when have toothpaste and deodorant been considered unhealthy or unsafe? Tom feeds off of want to be hippy health freaks with too much money. I asked my dentist about his toothpaste, he said "plain baking soda would be more effective" and he does not recomend it. The deodorant smells nice but does absolutely nothing if you actually sweat. Tom feeds his sales on the misconceived fears about deodorant containing aluminum. Deodorant does not contain aluminum, anti-perspirant does/did. Snap out of it, your being taken for a ride.

 | AndrewScott (73) 05/23/2003 | I've been very pleasantly surprised at how effective Tom's of Maine Natural deodorant has been. I've tried a few non-aluminum based deodorants due to increasing evidence coming out that suggests a link between aluminum consumption and Alzheimer's disease. Tom's Natural is the one non-alum deodorant I've tried that stops all of my BO, and I'm thankful I found it. My experience is based on the unscented roll-on.

 | snidebride (0) 04/08/2003 | THE WORST. It actually enhances production of body odor. You are better off using no deodorant at all!

 | jsimmons (0) 11/23/2002 | This stuff smells really sour in stick form, but once it's on your body, there's very little scent to it. It lasts quite a long while, but as with most deoderants, make sure your pits are dry before applying, otherwise you end up with a white, sticky mess.
By far, the best deoderant I've used, just not perfect.

 | Lord of the Waves (0) 12/01/2001 | This stuff reaks of rancid eggs. Tom's of Maine is the only deodorant that makes you smell worse. It is incredibly inneffective. I highly suggest avoiding this putrid, vile, downright rank smelling, abomination.

 | dar1 (0) 11/03/2000 | I only use and recommend natural deodorant because of the lack of harmful chemicals like aluminum. Tom's of Maine is one of my favorites.

 | PoorOldEdgarDerby (4) 09/05/2000 | I've had a personal ban on all Tom's of Maine products for years. Why you ask? Well, I don't really have any solid reasoning here just a personal dislike for the lard like coating that his toothpaste would leave in my mouth when I would find myself in the unfortunate situation where no other was available. I don't know how he passed that junk off as a decent natural alternative. He'd be better off selling a jar of pine needles and telling people to scour their teeth with them. That being said I can't even imagine what his deodorant must be like.
