I liked the camera until it broke. Sony and some of the places that sell them are now in a scam against consumers in the US. Sony does not authorize anyone to service camcorders (you cannot find an authroized sony service center other than mailing it to Sony). However, Sony will fix whatever it is for $300+ dollars. I have had the same problem twice. The first time it cost $50 to fix. Now, no one will service it because Sony will not sell them any parts. What you can buy is a service agreement for $250+. Re-sellers such as Best Buy will actually fix them, but ONLY if you purchased it from them with a service agreement, otherwise it is $300+ to send it to Sony. It is a scam, clean and simple. I will never buy another Sony product again until they change the practice and authorize local service. I would recommend you do the same. Even if you purchase one from Sony, do me a favor and ask for a list of locally authorized serice centers before agreeing to the puthace.

I've got a Sony and it works well and I like the way the tapes play in the VCR. It's better than Panasonic and I would buy it any day.

I just purchased the DCR 310 and love it. I recently took it to Costa Rica and am very pleased with the results. The picture quality is superb and the digital editing and picture effects help to make a movie Speilberg would be proud of!

Pictures look like actual real life, plus it's cost effective.

I have one and I used it on my Florida trip family reunion. The picture quality displayed on the TV is good, even better than the original TV shows. There aren't any "snow spots."
