I've always been a Jays fan as long as I can remember.  They have a good farm system and are usually a decent team but have to compete against a lot of money.  I think if they could sneak into the playoffs, they could win it all again.

Simply can't (and may never be able to) compete with the Red Sox or Yankees.

Hitting is killing them this year..pitching is great, offense is bad

I've never liked this team, even when they were good. Now they're just utterly mediocre, without even the whacky entertainment value of a genuinely bad team. Priding themselves on having something of a "spoiler" role in the AL East pennant race. Unfortunately, its a role they started to take on in June.

As with every other major-league club these days, the Blue Jays are in desperate need of pitching in all categories. Halladay's still wily enough to make it through eight innings; Chacin initially looked like a prospect, but the scouts figured him out after about six starts. The middle relief is a sorry state of affairs, and they haven't had a real closer in close to twelve years. Staggering hitting power up and down the roster (they still miss Delgado's production and Stewart's clutch magic), and they play solid defense. Trading for pitching will only weaken their offense at this point, and you've gotta score big when you're hoping to beat clubs like Boston and Baltimore. Destined for another uninspired third-place finish in 2005.

This is a team that's just in the way of things. Injuries killed them last season and if they manage to stay healthy this year, they won't be way behind NY and Boston in the standings.

If we're going with favourite teams... the Jays are definitely it... although they are slacking behind the big budget Red Sox and Yankees, they have finished 3rd in the AL East the last 5 years

I can't stand the BJ's. I have never been able to cheer for this team, even though they try to appeal to Canadian 'patriotism'. Almost none of the players or management are Canadian, so they shouldn't pretend they're Canadian. If cheering for a team based in my home country were that important to me, I'd cheer for the Expos.

I love this team it was a great team in 1992 and 1993 but after that they got bad but now there really Good. They have great players like Carlos Delgado, Shannon Stuart and Eric Hinske. There only probleme is they don't have a lot of MONEY.

These guys have plenty of sock. Delgado and Wells are top-knotch players and are well supported by Stewart, Fulmer and a cadre of no-names. The pitching is thin, however, with Halladay and Lidle and Escobar and that's pretty much it. If this team had a few more solid arms, they'd be really dangerous. As is, they will still give other teams plenty of trouble during the rest of 2003.

How about those BJ's? Reminds me of 1984 -- the year before they became respectable. The hitting will taper off -- but the pitching is the question mark. For now its a great ride. Vernon Wells will become the #1 outfielder in the AL -- he's in the top 5 now!!

This team needs to stop being so cheap. They should have kept Chris Carpenter around. No starting pitching except for Holliday, and too many unproven players on the team.

Such a great team. They have a huge fan base in Canada. I still remember running out into the streets screaming and yelling after Joe Carter won the series, and I live 3000 miles away from Toronto.
