Why carry one of these or any other pager around when we have the tecnology today to use phones everywhere, I mean pagers are useless these days

A friend of mine said that they can use it for correspondence in Chinese language. I do not know any other pager which can be used for corresponding purposes.

Not enough features.

Using one of these is akin to carrying a brick around, but what it does is so cool that it justifies the bulk. You can send and receive email from these things. Since it relies on a satelite for reception and transmission, you can do this from just about anywhere. Pretty amazing -- gives you a good subset of the communications ability you'd get from, say, an iridium phone, at a fraction of the cost.
