Great VCR with TV Guide Plus and commercial skip. Timer record is easy to skip and you can set to record many times and channels. Moderately priced too. Sony is the best when it comes to VCR's.

I've had this VCR for ten years and it's still in great condition. It runs well and looks fairly new. I am not the best person at taking care of items. I'm surprised this lasted.

This VCR would get 5 stars from me if I was just goingby picture and sound/ The visual/audio quality is fabulous. I love the long pause, frame back and forth. I love the fact that it plays older tapes with minimal tracking difficulty. BUT I have never seen a VCR break down like this one. I put my VCRs through a lot of wear, I admit, but of the couple of dozen VCRs I have owned in my lifetime, this takes the medal for most breakdowns. It used to be I could own a VCR and run it through the mill for 1-2 years before it gave out on me. I have bought about 6 Sony VCRs in the past c0uple of years because the picture and sound are just that good. Therefore, I ignore the fact that it constantly breaks down and ruins valuable tapes. But no more. I can no longer buy Sony VCRs - I can't afford to ruin anymore tapes that mean something to me.

I have this VCR and I think I made the right choice because I can do all the things I want! I think Sony makes the best VCR's and my only complaint is the prices. However, I'm not sad about what I paid because it's really good.

Sony is known for producing high quality home entertainment equipment. I believe all Sony equipment is worthy of at least a four or a five rating. This Sony VCR is a necessity for your home entertainment system.

Great VCR! Wonderful features that appeal to everyone. Also, it is moderately priced for the wonderful satisfaction!

This VCR is very great. It doesn't eat the tapes and it rewinds and fast forwards very fast.

Just another VCR that has a clear picture and higher speeds added in. Many of the other same things. This VCR is like many others. DVD players are the biggest separation from VCR's.

Eighty percent of people buy Sony because it is good quality. The component works well but costs a lot of money.

I am very happy with my Sony vcr. It has not given me any problems yet, especially with all the wear and abuse it goes through.

It definitely lasts through anything. You can actually see all the buttons and the things to press. It has never failed to work properly, and it looks nice and new.

The jog dial, which fast forwards and rewinds is a time saver and very user friendly. The gold plated A/V connections give much better picture and sound quality.

I think the brand name Sony makes it the most popular and prestigious. The quality is outstanding. If I buy one now, I am sure my grandchildren will still use it.

High quality with many features.

Very good picture quality. Excellent sound on both hi-fi and non stereo versions. Auto tracking works well, even on older tapes. A good overall value.

I rated this VCR a "5" because I think the programming is very easy to do. I love the way you can fly back and forth using the arrow buttons to change things without having to back out and start at the beginning again. Because the date and time are not connected, you can't make a mistake and accidentally change the intended recording date as you manipulate the time (which has happened to me a number of times with my other VCR). I have to admit that my husband struggles with the programming, though, and he always needs me to help him set the timer- something I find very annoying!

This VCR slv-478 is one of the most difficult pieces of equipment my husband and I have ever tried to use. We have to use the printed guide every time; and if we manage to get the programming, it doesn't always work. We'd pitch this one and get another, but it seems wise to wait to buy a DVD. It certainly won't be a Sony though.
