Service reliability is all I care about when looking at phones. I switched from AT&T to Verizon as my cell phone provider because the AT&T connection sucked where I live. I hate have calls drop or just disappear while I'm talking. So when I looked at switching to a new phone company, I wanted to go with a company that has a good track record.
Based on the reviews I've read and my conversations with Nextiva, I signed up with them. Luckily it has been a great move and I have not encountered any challenges or setbacks. All my calls sound good at all times of the day. I agree with the other reviews I've come across, Nextiva is a great service connection.

I’ve been using a Nextiva PBX for 6 months now and I’ve never been more impressed with a VoIP Provider. Hands down, they beat BroadVoice, voip.com, and Vonage. Although Vonage has their network together on a massive scale, the quality of service with Nextiva is fantastic. I actually feel bad requesting support because I know what it takes to provide quality VoIP (Being a former employee of a major voip firm) and Nextiva doesn’t cut corners.

From my research and use, I found they use good quality multi-homed bandwidth with their network, asterisk systems that support a wide variety of codecs, and they actually have a real live English speaking person in their porting department (Who returns phone calls!)

You couldn’t ask for more…

Pit Falls: there sales department is a little high pressured and willing to sell you the moon.
The way the account sign up process works (when I signed up) had a stupid insecure default password
Their PBX features are lacking things like call screening which is extremely useful when forwarding extensions to peoples home or cell phones so they know to answer professionally.

Things to good to be true;
Unlimited really is unlimited.
I’ve had extremely large conference calls going on my single unlimited line. (Broadvoice and others restrict this to two total users in conference)
I haven’t seen a quota on my voicemail storage.
I can connect more than one soft phone using one set of SIP credentials. (Soft phone at the home and office rings simultaneously -awesome)
Price, price, price.

I got a notice from CallVantage that they were discontinuing my service on October 20, 2009. From what I read on the web I chose Nextiva. The transition of our number from CallVantage took 2 weeks and the features are better with Nextiva. The call quality with CallVantage was great and so is the quality with Nextiva. It's a great alternative for CallVantage users.

I would love to try Nextiva but they can not port my existing phone number because of my location in North Dakota. I have checked with a few other providers that have OK reviews and I get the same answer. Something to do with the rate center. I called the State Public Service Commision and they tell me that there is no reason that they can't port my number. I have been in business for 10 years and do not want to change numbers. If I could keep my number I would sign up today!

Using Cisco7960 IP phones that I got when I acquired another company. The people that do their phone support are nice and were able to get my phones working right after I signed up. The price is right and everything is working how I expected.

As a customer of theirs for over a year I can say that Nextiva is the perfect phone provider. Setup did not have any challenges and I use the control panel almost everyday to check voicemails and edit where my calls ring on the fly. I cannot think of one reason why I would not recommend them as a phone company. Practically every business has internet service. --- RJ

I switched to nextiva because callvantage was ending service. I would use my callvantage line for work purposes and went with nextiva because its a similar setup, if not better. I'm using a similar adapter that I used before and the line quality is as good. The technical support is helpful and I've recommended them to three people I know.

We are all happy with it.

Nextiva has impressed me with the level of support and attentiveness as a whole. I had to throw away my packet 8 phones when switching to them which sucked because they I paid $150 for each. The features are not as extensive as packet 8 but they do work. One of the reasons for leaving packet 8 was their reckless support and the other was the countless issues I faced with the system.
Getting nextiva setup was easy and I received guidance from their customer support. Give them a go. I haven't been disappointed.

Porting our four numbers was a pain. Took three weeks, which meant three more weeks with ma bell. Once we got the numbers moved the switchover was easy and seamless. Practically no downtime and things have been good with nextiva.

Service has been great. I had a very frustrating experience with at&t and the main thing I was looking for when switching phone companies is customer service. I couldn't stand sitting on hold for 20 minutes and when it became my turn, my call would get transferred to two other departments. I dont have this happen with nextiva and thats one of the many reasons why I continue to recommend them. It did take some time to get accustom to the user interface, but overall I would say it's logical and versatile. I paid a contract termination fee to leave at&t and the risk paid off. The auto attendant is a feature I used at the beginning but have since stopped using, mainly because I have a secretary answering the phones during the day. At nights we use our after hours voicemail system, and its convenient that nextiva sends us emails each time we get a new one. The support people have been courteous and patient. The product is good and as someone that is not technically inclined, its good using them.

The service has been phenomenal from the beginning. I hope they continue the way they treat users, literally every time of had contact with Nextiva, it's been positive. Support is very helpful and I don't have to wait on hold for hours. They pick up fast and their support seems to be well aware of what theyre supporting.
They simply get five stars for every category in my book. Price is out of this planet, its a great deal. The quality has been good, never had a person complain on the end. I like the way my phone looks too, real sharp. I feel modern when I use their service, like I'm up with the latest technology. The way they follow up to make sure everything's working is also a nice thing they do.

I've had the worst experience with Nextiva. Anytime I have a call that lasts longer than 10 minutes, it drops out. I've told them about the problem numerous times and they can't do anything to fix it. Do not make the mistake of switching to this company like I did.

I started an answering service and needed a new number along with a provider. Chose Nextiva and got everything going quickly. I signed up in March and in the 3-4 months I have used them the calls have sounded well. Because there are two of us on the phones, I did do a speed test before signing up.
My results were somewhere around 700kpbs download and 400kbps upload.
Go to www.speedtest.net ....thats what I use. My experience with support has been great and each question I have had has been answered. They are better than what I expected.

I've saved money and stopped using Packet 8. They screwed me by trying to raise the price and switched companies. Nextiva is better and I like their support. I hate that Packet 8's phones don't work with any other company so I had to burn them. Having to buy new phones was the only tough part of this whole process leaving Packet 8, but surely worth it. Packet8 was/is a nightmare.
I was blasted with emails and calls from what felt like a million companies when I requested for more information on some voip directory. So be careful when giving your information out to those web sites. My recommendation is to stay away from Packet 8 and if you want voip use Nextiva. I'd give Nextiva a bit more than 4 stars but not 5. If the service was free they'd deserve 5.

Starting everything up and making our first call took about 15 minutes once we got some time to unbox the phones. The service gets 5 stars from me because of one experience I had....

In January I had to go on a business trip to Montreal for 4 days. My sales associate told me that the phone can be taken anywhere in the world and it'd work. So I gave it a shot and when I got to the hotel I plugged the phone into the open port and it worked!!! I was calling people from my hotel in Montreal but ppl thought I was at the office. I don't know of too many phone services that can do this. Using Nextiva has been a outstanding experience.

A quality company regardless of industry starts with quality people. These people get it and all the people working in support are caring and know the service. If you want voip to work well make sure you have enough bandwidth and you don't go cheap on internet service. It's worth the few extra dollars to have a good internet connection, not only do you surf faster but your calls sound better too.
I'd recommend you contact their email support when you have questions rather than doing it yourself. My IT guy billed me for 3 hours of setup when nextiva did this for free. Just contact them when you have an issue or questions, it's much better than getting billed per hour. Call transfer and voicemail to email are features I use all the time. Do your research to make sure they are the best company for you. I've loved nextiva.

Purchased our phones and service from Nextiva and we have been using them for 3 months now. We signed up in November but did not get around to using the service and setting it up until March. The service works perfectly. Calls are reliable. The customized greeting is great and a perfect thing for our business. I would say that for the price, voip is what everyone needs to use.

Found out about nextiva from my sister-in-law, she uses them at her practice. I was using gotvmail for a while so kinda understand the way this stuff works and the transition from gotvmail/at&t to nextiva for everything was an easy one. Looking at the price and the level of attention I've received so far, it's wonderful.

We have had nothing but problems with Nextiva. The support staff was always assuring that our lines would work properly, however they didn’t. We were so excited to have switched our company’s phone AND fax line back in January, and I can honestly say after MULTIPLE phone calls our fax line still doesn’t work to this very day nor do we have voice mail on the primary line. It has cost us more headache, TIME, and money!!!!! My husband and I have no idea why they advertise having a better service than Vonage, yet the technical support staff has absolutely no idea what they are doing. We have switched back to Vonage....WE GIVE UP!!!!!

I've been trying to get Nextiva to work. I've done everything that they've suggested but my calls keep dropping, some people don't get a ring at all and go directly to voicemail, and sometimes I'm alerted to voicemail and sometimes I am not. This has been many many months of aggravation. I've been in constant contact with Nextiva, until over a week ago, when I guess they determined that they would no longer respond to me. Very very disappointed. It's low cost, and quality.

I've been a Farmers agent since 97 and was using AT&T for phones since this last August. Another agent I know was using Nextiva before I was and he was pleased with the service. I don't like to change things unless they are broken and AT&T was not broken, just expensive. But from his experienced I figured it would be a nice ride for myself as well and switched to them. I also took my numbers over to Nextiva. I purchased phones when I switched and the whole idea of doing this now makes sense. To be brief I can say that this was something I should have done earlier, but didn't because I wasn't aware of voip other than vonage. In less than a year with them, I say they rock. If people want to chat with me let me know - my personal address is ilfarmers@gmail.com. Oscar D.

My opinion on their service after being a customer for almost a year is that all has been well. From the point where we got our local and 800 numbers over to them and then followed by making occasional follow up calls to see that everything is going well. The treatment we've gotten is not typical support from a phone company and something that has been impressive. We've experienced nothing but great service with them.

I have had a very poor experience with Nextiva. Look elsewhere for VOIP. I am an attorney, so communication with my clients and opposing counsel is essential. The initial purchase was easy, until I realized what happened after the fact. Nextiva spelled my name incorrectly, which made subsequent communication difficult. Nextiva then assigned my phone number to another business, that confused my clients and other counsel. When I called to correct service problems, in addition to what is listed here, Nextiva did not fix the problems, I was passed from person to person, and they did not return emails or phone messages.

Absolutely a great choice for us. We started a 5 line order with them, mainly to see how they perform. We weren't fans of switching all of our numbers to them right off the bat. We figured it would be a better move to first try them out and then transfer our numbers. The 5 lines we started with were sales lines for our outbound calling initiatives. The network reliability has been good with no signs of issues and the transition was not challenging. They did a nice job overall and we ended up moving our other 19 lines to them. The porting of our numbers took about two weeks or so. My bill is 1700 cheaper each month! They're the best thing since sliced bread.

I have to say I have a very different opinion about Nextiva. I have to wonder if these other reviews may be written by people that work there. It's a tiny little company with just a few employees. There service is unreliable at best. The most reliable part of working with Nextiva is the billing. We tried to work with a few of the guys their but didn't have any good results. What we learned from one of them is that they are a tiny company operating on a small budget with just a few employees trying to run a large phone network. If you can't take the heat, don't use the blowtorch!

My experience with Nextiva's service kicked off on a good note when I got a courtesy welcome call from their team thanking me for joining. It was not a long call and they weren't trying to sell me anything....something you don't see too often. The next thing that really impressed me was that they were able to port my number and they did everything for me after I faxed them a copy of my bill and the form they needed.
Jumping from the analog world to digital was wise. I'm a fan of how I can manage my account from the online control panel.

Probably the best thing about nextiva (even though most of the other things are great) is the fact that they have a good support dept. thats not outsourced. I can't stand how I call every company/vendor and they outsource their support. As a business owner, the idea of outsourcing does not make much sense to me and its nice to see that the people that pick up the phones for them don't read off a scripts all day long.

I am a liking Nextiva because of the call quality they have. Whereas with Aptela I would consistently have issues with my calls just going dead or the other person not being able to hear me, with Nextiva everything works and sounds fine. I have been with Nextiva for 4 months. It took us approximately 2 weeks to bring our numbers from Aptela to Nextiva. Before our numbers were transferred we played around with Nextiva's interface and service in order to make sure that they would be the right provider.

It would have been better if the process to port our number from Aptela to Nextiva was faster but this is something that Nextiva could not have controlled and I did not want to spend my time speaking with Aptela's support team, which has never been of any help.

It's great that the service with Nextiva can be managed online, this makes life easier. With Aptela we did have a user interface but it was not simple to navigate. Our reason for using VoIP at our business was the cost savings. Saving money and not having to pay Verizon is a plus. Unfortunately Aptela ended up being a bad move but the decision to use Nextiva for our business has been a great one.

Put me and my business in the same exact category as the other two people that reviewed Nextiva. Looking at what I get from them for the price is unreal. I was paying $120 for one line of service and I was getting almost the same service as Nextiva. But now I am paying a fraction of that, only $30 and they care about my business. Setting up their service was simple - I like how my service can be managed online - and I should lastly point to one other thing that impressed me. We all know the saying "you get what you pay for", in no way does this apply to Nextiva. These days my business is a bit slow and I'm trying to cut costs everywhere possible, this is not the case with Nextiva. I'd be willing to pay them more money, they deserve it.

When my contract expired with Packet8, I figured it was time to find a new company to go with. The one thing I liked about Nextiva was how they don't even have contracts. I pay month to month and they don't play games like the phone companies. So far I've been quite impressed by the quality of voice over IP and love how the features are so vast and actually work. Well the work part was with Nextiva - not Packet8. Nextiva is cheaper and works better than Packet8 based on my experience.

I bought a new set of phones for the four of us at my company and the setup aspect with Nextiva was a breeze. They really deserve 5 stars - my account was setup without any delays and it continues to work flawlessly. Kudos to Nextiva.
