Def great fresh foods here. Again, just a bit pricey, but I guess thats what you have to pay for organic freshness. They have really good variety of cheeses. I like stopping here for picnic stuff before hitting the hill on dolores park on a sunshining day!

I used to live around the corner from Bi-Rite and would hit it just about every day. This was before the lines started going out the door, and Dolores Park and 18th street blew up as a destination. You go in there for a gatorade or something, and the next thing you know you are dropping $22 on all of this good stuff. Their meatloaf is really, really good.I believe that Bi-Rite is owned by a Mission High grad who saw the yuppie / hipster opportunity very early, and was the first to move on delivering a high end grocery store. They've done a good job.

Bi-Rite is a bit expensive for everyday shopping, but it's a perfect place to stop in if you're preparing for a special occasion. The service is absolutely worth the price. The staff is friendly and highly knowledgeable. The selection of wine is particularly fantastic, albeit concise (this is what I was shopping for). I was able to get advice based upon my preferences for exactly what I was looking for precisely within my price range (plus some recommendations on where to visit in Napa / Sonoma when I take a trip out there for good measure).
